The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NiDO) Americas – South Savannah, Georgia, says Dr Morufu Alausa, Minister of Education, has made a transformational impact in Nigeria’s education sector within one year.
The organisation made this known in a statement jointly signed and issued on Friday by the NiDO Americas(NiDOA) Chapter President, Collins Ikegwuonu, and Vice-President, Dr Tomi Ademokun.
The group said it was ready to confer the Ministerial Impact Award on Alausa in recognition of the successes recorded in the nation’s education sector within the period.
The award is designed to honour Alausa for his visionary leadership, commitment to educational reform, role played as diaspora trailblazer, and meaningful contributions to advance Nigeria’s progress on the global stage.
According to the organisation, Alausa’s initiatives aim to move Nigeria’s education system from merely providing access to ensuring excellence during its rebuilding process.
“NiDOA South Savannah commends one-year transformational impact of Nigeria’s Minister of Education and announces ministerial impact award.
“NiDOA South Savannah Chapter proudly recognises the exceptional leadership and transformational achievements of Alausa, following his impactful first year in office.
“As distinguished leader from the diaspora, Alausa represents the excellence and global impact of Nigerian professionals abroad, making the Nigerian-American diaspora proud through his service, innovation, and commitment to national development.
“NiDOA South Savannah affirms its continued support for policies and leadership that empower Nigerian youth, strengthen institutions, and drive sustainable national progress, both at home and across the diaspora.”
The statement said the award was based on verified policy updates, official ministry reports and public communications of the minister’s one-year achievements defined by bold reforms, measurable outcomes, and a renewed national vision for education.
It listed some of the achievements as: promises kept, system reforms, transition from 6-3-3-4 to modern 12-year basic education model, 80 per cent practical/20 per cent theory shift in technical education, and introduction of data-driven education planning systems.
Others include the unveiling of the Student Loan Scheme (NELFUND), an infrastructure boost, the expansion of girls’ education initiatives (the AGILE programme), digital transformation, policy and curriculum reforms, and improved governance and accountability.
“In recognition of these outstanding achievements—and his exemplary representation of diaspora excellence, NiDOA is proud to nominate and present the NiDOA Ministerial Impact Award (Education Sector).
“This award is also in recognition his efforts in driving innovation and national progress.
“Alausa, a retired surgeon from the Chicago diaspora, has made a huge impact in just one year,’’ the statement said. (NAN)(http://www.nannews.ng)
