Mr Segun Tomori, the All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Oshodi-Isolo II Federal Constituency in Lagos State, has pledged to push for youth empowerment through digital skills and promote grassroots sports.
Tomori made the commitment on Monday in Abuja while declaring his interest to contest for the House of Representatives in the 2027 elections.
He said that the three core values of Service, Excellence and Trust (SET) formed the theme of his campaign, and that his manifesto was anchored on eight pillars aimed at achieving purposeful legislation.
“Across my journey in both public and private sectors, three core values have defined me, Service, Excellence and Trust (SET).
“These principles form the theme of my campaign, aptly tagged the SET Campaign, derived from the acronym of my name, Segun Tomori,” he said.
He listed the eight pillars of his manifesto to include Community Health Outreach, Support for Women and Vulnerable Families, Generation Next – Youth and Sports Talent Development and Education and Schools Intervention Programme.
Others include Light Up Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II, Skills Building Initiative alongside Open Door Leadership and Accessibility with Constituents and Stakeholders and networking for constituency visibility.
He said that under the `Generation Next’ initiative, youths would receive mentorship and practical in-demand skills to improve their prospects of securing jobs if he emerges as the APC candidate and wins the election.
“The initiative will also involve strategic partnerships with companies and youth consulting firms to provide training, career guidance and potential employment pathways.
“Furthermore, there will be annual sports tournaments in which foreign scouts will pick their best talents, train them further and set them up with a career in sports,” he said.
According to him, electricity and solar power solutions, back-to-school initiatives to encourage enrolment and retention as well as improved learning conditions in public schools, will be his priorities amongst other people centered initiatives.
He pledged to improve the welfare of his constituency but noted that the success of this vision would rely on the collective effort and support of the people.
“There is much work to be done through purposeful legislation, not only to improve the welfare of our constituents but also the lives of the average Nigerian, even as it contributes meaningfully to national development.
“I bring to this race the dynamism of youth, fresh ideas and a proven ability to build consensus and deliver results, in complement to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Tomori served as Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development from 2023 until he declared his interest to contest in the election.
He was the Team Lead, Strategic Communication Directorate, 2023 APC Presidential Campaign Council; Personal Assistant to the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, 2021 to 2023 and a member of the APC Screening Committee, APC Abuja Area Council, 2021.
The geology graduate, who also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration, was the APC South West Zonal Youth Leader candidate in 2018 and a councillorship candidate for Ailegun Ward, Ejigbo, in 2013/2014. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
