Mr Peter Obi has called for the support and cooperation of Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, to promote unity and security in Nigeria.
Obi, a presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, said this during a courtesy visit to the governor, on Thursday in Bauchi.
He said that he led a high powered delegation from the South-East region, to invite the governor, people of Bauchi State and North-East, to work to promote unity and security in the country.
Obi said that such partnership and cooperation are imperative towards building a secure and better country for all.
He said the aim was to promote partnership and synergy that would build a better and secured country for Nigerians.
“We want the best for the country, we want unity in our country. The invitation is to build a better Nigeria.
“Today, I came with a powerful delegation from the South-East, to seek the support and cooperation of the governor, Bauchi State and the North-East in our quest to unite this country and build the future of our children.
“The country cannot go the way it is today, it is heading in the wrong direction and we need to reverse that for everybody,” he said.
Responding, Mohammed commended Obi and the delegation for the visit.
He pledged support and cooperation towards rebuilding Nigeria.
“As a state and people, we feel highly honoured by the visit by eminent persons from the South-East.
“We take it with a lot of respect and it’s important to us, and what they are here to ask us for partnership, synergy to rekindle and rebuild the country, to recreate the balance of power that our forefathers created which has been abandoned.
“We have given all the assurances and respect about rebuilding synergy and cooperation for the unity, progress and development of this country,” Mohammed said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
