A diaspora group, Diaspora4Jandor, has endorsed Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor) for Lagos governorship under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2027.
The group,with members in Canada, United Kingdom and U.S., said this in a statement issued by its Global Coordinator, Mr Akeem Lanade.
The statement was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos.
The diaspora body said its endorsement followed “a considered assessment of Dr Adediran’s policy orientation and public engagement,” expressing confidence in his capacity to lead the state.
“We, members of the Lagos diaspora community across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, write to formally convey our endorsement of Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran JANDOR as the gubernatorial candidate for Lagos State under the platform of the APC,” the group said.
It noted that despite residing abroad, members maintained “strong personal, economic, and social ties to Lagos State,” which informed their interest in the governance and development trajectory of the state.
“Although resident abroad, we maintain strong personal, economic, and social ties to Lagos State.
“This enduring connection informs our interest in the governance and future development of the state,” it said.
The group highlighted Adediran’s focus on key sectors, describing his policy thrust as aligned with the demands of a modern megacity.
“His emphasis on infrastructure development, transportation efficiency, youth empowerment, and the integration of digital innovation into governance reflects an understanding of the structural demands of a modern megacity,” it stated.
According to the diaspora body, the candidate’s approach indicates “both responsiveness to immediate challenges and alignment with long-term development priorities.”
It further commended Adediran’s engagement with diverse stakeholders, saying such outreach underscored his capacity for inclusive governance.
“His outreach across various demographic groups like the youths, professionals, artisans, and community leaders indicates a capacity for inclusive leadership and coalition-building, which are critical in a complex and diverse state such as Lagos,” the group said.
The group commended his advocacy on issues affecting the state, describing it as consistent and clear.
“We also note his consistent advocacy on issues affecting the state and his willingness to address them with clarity and conviction.
“This disposition, combined with a demonstrable commitment to public service, reinforces confidence in his suitability for higher responsibility,” it added.
The group, therefore, urged the leadership of the APC in Lagos State to consider Adediran in its gubernatorial selection process.
“In view of the foregoing, we respectfully urge the leadership of the APC in Lagos State to give due consideration to Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran JANDOR in the party’s gubernatorial selection process,” it said.
It reaffirmed its readiness to support initiatives that would drive the state’s growth and prosperity.
“We remain committed, as members of the diaspora, to supporting initiatives that contribute to the sustainable growth and prosperity of Lagos State,” the group said.
