A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse on Wednesday, discharged a 20-year-old car washer, Patrick Yusuf, accused of alleged joint act and extortion.
The Magistrate, Ekpeyong Inyang discharged the defendant following an application filed by the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Sunny Emmanuel to withdraw the case.
“The first information report against the defendant is here by struck out,” the magistrate held.
Earlier, Emmanuel urged the court to strike out the matter because the nominal complainant, Aremu Lawal, was not interested in the matter.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the prosecution alleged that the complainant, a vigilante member of Jabi Motor Garage reported the matter at the Utako Police Station on Sept.11, 2025.
He said that the defendant and one Biliya, at large, snatched a travelling bag containing a Point of Sale (POS) machine, an IPhone, android and universal chargers.
Other items, he said were three pieces of clothes, toothbrush and toothpaste.
The offence, he said contravened the provisions of Sections 79 and 292 of the Penal Code.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
