Sen. Kamorudeen Oyewumi (Osun West) has commended President Bola Tinubu for the ongoing construction work on the Ibadan-Ilesa-Akure road project.
Speaking under matters of personal explanation during Senate plenary on Tuesday in Abuja, Oyewumi said that he had, on three occasions, moved motions calling for the reconstruction of the road.
He said that the road which traverses five states of the federation had become a death trap for commuters.
Oyewumi said that contractors commenced work from both ends of the road, a development he described as accelerating project completion.
“I visited the site physically on two occasions to inspect the road and I saw the quality of work, which is commendable,” he said.
According to him, Nigerians must know that government is paying attention to their welfare through critical infrastructure like this.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, in his remarks, appreciated Oyewumi for acknowledging Tinubu’s road construction initiative.
“He is an Accord Party member, yet he commended the president for his people-oriented policies. Others should take a cue from him,” he said.
Akpabio further stated that the Lagos-Badagry, Abuja-Kaduna-Kano and Lagos-Calabar road projects were also ongoing, stressing that Tinubu deserved commendation for infrastructural development.(NAN)
