The Yoruba Youth Assembly (YYA) has passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, citing “significant progress” in national transformation.
YYA President, Mr Olarinde Thomas, said this in a statement issued in Lagos after the assembly’s strategic meeting held with affiliated organisations on Wednesday in Ibadan.
He said deliberations were based on feedback from sister unions nationwide, which he described as “overwhelmingly encouraging.”
“We are pleased to state that the feedback has been overwhelmingly encouraging, as there is a general consensus that the administration of Bola Tinubu is making significant progress in transforming the nation.
“Based on the feedback the YYA and its 38 sister union organisations are working towards proper endorsement of Asiwaju for second term rally in Ibadan in June,” he said.
He highlighted achievements in infrastructure, including road construction and rehabilitation across the country.
Thomas also noted economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy, improved revenue generation and efforts to stabilise the economy.
“These steps, though challenging, are already yielding visible results and positioning Nigeria for long-term growth,” he added.
He commended the Minister of Interior, Dr Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, for “remarkable performance” in office.
According to him, the minister’s reforms have improved passport issuance and enhanced internal security coordination.
He added that the reforms had strengthened border management and restored public confidence in the ministry.
Thomas urged critics of the administration to be “objective, factual and constructive” in their assessments.
“It is important to note that many who criticise today had opportunities in the past but did not achieve this level of progress,” he said.
He noted increased federal allocations to states, saying it had eased fiscal pressures and reduced borrowing.
Thomas reaffirmed that “Yoruba sons and daughters remain firmly supportive” of the president and his vision.
However, he expressed concern over developments in Ondo State under Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
He called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intervene to prevent a recurrence of past political crises.
We call on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to urgently intervene and address the situation in the state to prevent a recurrence of historical political crises such as the Operation Wetie era.
“The current trajectory of governance in the state is worrisome. The Governor is advised to focus on effective leadership and governance rather than premature political ambitions.
“At a time when the state should be experiencing tangible development, there appears to be a disconnect between the resources available and the level of progress on ground,” he said.
Thomas called for unity within the APC and sustained commitment to the welfare of the people. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
