Intimidation

A community leader of Ruga Maliki, Mararaba, Nasarawa, Abdulmalik Adamu has filed a direct criminal complaint against his former secretary and a cleric, accusing them of making death threats to him .
Adamu, lodged the matter before the Upper Area Court 1, Karu, Holden at Mararaba-Gurku, against Usman Haruna, his former secretary, and one Pastor Emmanuel.
In the application for direct criminal complaint dated July 4, 2023, and brought pursuant to Sections 88 and 89 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Nasarawa State, Adamu identified himself as a title holder overseeing community issues within Ruga Maliki, Karu LGA.
He alleged that Haruna, was his former secretary who stood as witness in some documents relating to his official capacity.
The complainant stated that he was shocked by the attitude of both defendants who continued to disturb his peace and fly his name by reporting him to several of his title clans for no just reason.
Adamu further averred that the defendants dragged his name in the mud and continued to threaten him and his family.
According to the complainant, the defendants called him severally, warned him on the phone that he should desist or they will kill him.
He also alleged that the defendants boasted saying that unless he begs them, they will do their worst.
As a result, Adamu said he is living in fear and that all efforts to prevail on the defendants failed.
He added that the daily insults of the defendants caused him psychological trauma.
The complainant also alleged that their actions led to him being invited by Madaki of Mararaba, Sarki Hausawa, Chief of Mararaba without reason and that both defendants visited him in his palace in the presence of several people and promised to deal with him.
Adamu is praying the court to stop the act of the defendants from further trespassing, embarrassing and intimidating him.
The complaint stated that the acts of the defendants constitutes criminal trespass and intimidation, punishable under sections 348 and 397 of the Penal Code Law.
The application, dated July 4, 2023, was received and stamped by the Registrar, Upper Area Court 1, Mararaba, on the same day.
The judge, Adamu Haruna, adjourned until May 21, for all parties to appear in court for hearing. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
