The Kaduna State Government says it is boosting infrastructure across different sectors through increased allocations following the removal of fuel subsidy.
The Commissioner for Information in the state, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, stated this on Thursday in Kaduna.
He was addressing visiting journalists at the 35-km asphaltic road linking Gadar Gayan through Gwaraji to Kujama Junction.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the road is the longest single road project in the history of Kaduna State.
NAN also reports that the project includes a 130-metre bridge over River Kaduna and stretches across Igabi, Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas.
The road is part of a broader infrastructure programme comprising 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres across the state.
According to Maiyaki, the road directly serves no fewer than 76 farming and rural communities.
He said the project had improved mobility, agriculture and rural economic activities across the benefiting local government areas.
The commissioner added that the initiative reflects the Uba Sani administration’s commitment to inclusive and people-centred development.
NAN further reports that the road was conceived as an alternative route to ease traffic congestion within the Kaduna metropolis.
Maiyaki also said the state government had expanded investments in the health sector, including the upgrade of primary health centres across the state.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
