Abuja, May 1, 2026 (NAN) National Chairman of African Democratic Congress(ADC), Sen. David Mark, has commended Nigerian workers for their resilience, dignity and sacrifices, pledging sustained advocacy for improved welfare.

Mark gave the commendation in his 2026 Workers’ Day message issued on Friday in Abuja by his Technical Adviser on Strategic Communications, Kola Ologbondiyan.

While stating that Nigeria endures because workers remained dedicated, he said that the party would champion policies guaranteeing living wages, pension reforms, job creation, productivity rewards and strict punishment for corruption.

Mark described workers across classrooms, farms, hospitals, markets, factories and oil fields as the enduring backbone sustaining the country.

He expressed concern over workers’ conditions, noting that many Nigerians labour daily without fair wages, job security or hope for brighter futures.

The ADC national chairman said any nation that failed to protect workers’ dignity could not genuinely claim progress, stressing that their welfare remained central to national stability.

He lamented the harsh economic realities, saying that inflation had weakened salaries, unemployment had destroyed dreams and citizens’ fundamental right to be heard faced growing threats.

The former Senate President assured workers that ADC remained committed to rebuilding confidence in Nigeria’s workforce, while restoring hope to millions.

Mark warned that anti-people forces thrive whenever labour movements were divided or silenced, stressing that Nigeria’s rebuilding ultimately depends on workers’ unity.

He wished Nigerian workers a peaceful Workers’ Day, even as he expressed confidence that Nigeria would rise again through them.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
