The Chief Imam, Area 10 Jumaat Mosque, Abuja, Yahya Alyolawi, has urged Muslims to take useful lessons of obedience and steadfastness from the “battle of Uhud”

Alyolawi gave the advice in Madinah, when took some pilgrims on visitation to the Mountain of Uhud, where the battle took during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammed.

He said the disobedience of some of the Prophet’s companions resulted to their defeat in the battle.

“This is the Mountain of Uhud, a battle happened here which led to the death of 70 of the companions of the Prophet due their disobedience of simple instruction.

“They moved from a spot they were instructed to hold and the enemies attacked through that spot and killed 70 of them. Even the Prophet was badly wounded,” he said.

According to him, one lesson to derive from the incident is that Muslims should not disobey the admonition of their leaders, as it had wholesome consequences.

“Disobeying the leader is wrong. Anywhere you are with a leader, always obey his instructions.

“At the same time, we have to remain firm when faced with difficulties.
That is how they became firm and minimised the harm done to them and the Prophet.

“If not of their firmness, maybe the injuries on the Prophet would be worse,” he said.

The cleric urged Nigerian muslims to develop the habit of praying for the nation and its leaders.

He advised them to embrace patriotism and always take steps to project Islam positively.

“Try as much as you can to stop anything that will affect Islam or muslims. In your office, business, shop, even on the street, and in your car, anywhere.

“Mothers should lead by good examples that will help them to raise obedient and firm children in the face of difficulties,” he said.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
