The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has affirmed Gov. Umar Namadi as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the exercise was conducted on Thursday at Dutse Township Stadium under the supervision of officials from the party’s national headquarters.

Mr Isa Sadik-Achida, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the Governorship Consensus Exercise in the state, said Namadi was unanimously affirmed as the party’s candidate.

Sadik-Achida said in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC guidelines, a sole aspirant must be affirmed through a voice vote by delegates.

The chairman therefore declared Namadi as the APC consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in the state.

In his acceptance speech, Namadi thanked Almighty Allah for sparing his life to witness the event.

The governor also appreciated party leaders, stakeholders, members and supporters for the confidence they reposed in him by giving him the opportunity to seek re-election unopposed.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank Jigawa people, particularly the APC stakeholders for the confidence reposed in me.

“I will use this opportunity you’ve given me to continue the good work we are doing and our project of greater importance is also on course,” the governor assured.

Namadi further described Jigawa as one of the states with the best consensus arrangement, with 95 per cent success.

The governor, who attributed the success to counselling and guidance of the party’s elders in the state, urged residents to vote for all APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 general elections.

Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were former governors of the state, Ali Sa’adu-Birninkudu and Alhaji Saminu Ibrahim-Turaki.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
