Environment and Agriculture group, CHC Agritech Africa has announced partnership with the Yobe Government to support environmental sustainability, food security and agricultural development in the state.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Ruby Ross disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
She said that the partnership was after a strategic engagement organised under the Yobe Sahara Restoration Drive Project.
Ross praised the Yobe Government for launching the initiative aimed at addressing environmental challenges and promoting agricultural transformation.
According to her, the project has the potential to make Yobe a leading example of climate resilience and sustainable agriculture in Africa.
Ross said CHC Agritech Africa would support the project through climate-smart soil restoration, water conservation, agroforestry and community-based farming systems.
She explained that the company would also establish demonstration farms and farmer training programmes to help local communities adopt modern and sustainable farming methods.
Ross noted that water efficiency remained one of the biggest challenges in semi-arid regions and stressed the need for sustainable irrigation and moisture conservation systems.
The CEO added that the company would also focus on reducing post-harvest losses through improved storage, processing and market access for farmers.
According to her, the company would further support organic farming standards and export readiness to help farmers access regional and international markets.
Ross said CHC Agritech Africa had already trained thousands of farmers, youths and women across Nigeria and implemented climate-smart agriculture projects in several states.
She expressed confidence that environmental restoration in Yobe would succeed through strong partnerships and community participation.
“On behalf of CHC Agritech Africa, we are honoured to support this vision towards building a greener and more prosperous future for Yobe,” she said.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
