Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, has denied allegations that he is evading law enforcement authorities, describing a recent media report on the matter as inaccurate.

Nnaji, in a statement on Monday in Abuja through his spokesperson, Dr Robert Ngwu, said he was neither in hiding nor avoiding any security or anti-corruption agency.

Ngwu noted that his boss residence in Asokoro, Abuja, where he had lived for nearly two decades, is well known to public authorities.

He added that his home in Independence Layout, Enugu, had also been known since 1990.

“Chief Nnaji is not in hiding and has never evaded any law enforcement agency.

“As a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, his residence in Asokoro, Abuja, where he has lived for nearly two decades, is well known to public authorities,” Ngwu said.

He said that neither Nnaji nor his legal team, led by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), had received any invitation, summons, warrant or correspondence from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

“We further wish to make it abundantly clear that neither Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji nor his legal team has received any invitation, summons, warrant, or correspondence whatsoever from the ICPC,” he said.

The spokesperson also referred to an ongoing case before the Federal High Court, Abuja, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1909/2025, which he said was instituted by Nnaji.

“The suit seeks judicial clarification on issues relating to the former minister’s academic records and the release of his academic transcript.

“Contrary to the narrative being promoted, Chief Nnaji was not dragged before the courts.

“He voluntarily approached the judiciary as the applicant and plaintiff,” Ngwu said.

He noted that the matter remained pending before the court and had yet to be determined.

He alleged that Nnaji had been the subject of sustained media attention since October 2025, with reports focusing on his resignation, legal matters, political activities and governorship aspirations.

The spokesperson also alleged that attempts were being made to pressure and discredit the former minister through media reports and political intimidation.

Ngwu also claimed that Nnaji’s representatives had previously responded to inquiries concerning reports of an alleged ICPC manhunt and requested evidence to support the claim.

He claimed that the responses were not reflected in subsequent reports.

He reaffirmed Nnaji’s commitment to due process, transparency and the rule of law, expressing confidence that the courts would establish the facts.

“Chief Nnaji remains committed to due process, transparency and the rule of law.

“He remains confident that facts, not sensational headlines, will ultimately prevail,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm and allow the courts to determine issues before them. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
