Former Chief of Staff to a former Governor of Imo, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, for ongoing infrastructural development across Abuja.

Nwosu gave the commendation during a news conference in Abuja on Monday, where he described the minister’s performance as impactful and visible in key sectors of the territory.

He said Wike had demonstrated leadership through the execution of major infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges and other public facilities aimed at improving connectivity and urban development.

According to him, residents and visitors to the nation’s capital can easily observe the transformation taking place under the current FCT administration.

“I have lived in Abuja for more than 25 years and I know what many of these roads looked like before now.

“Today, projects such as the Apo Road, Maitama Bridge, Jahi Bridge, Jahi-Gwarimpa Interchange, Airport Expressway-Kuje Road, Kuje-Gwagwalada Road, the Outer Southern Expressway main carriageways and adjoining road networks in Katampe District are evidence of purposeful governance,” he said.

Nwosu said the primary responsibility of government was to provide infrastructure and deliver democratic dividends to citizens, adding that the FCT minister had distinguished himself in that regard.

He also lauded the construction of judges’ quarters in Abuja, describing it as a significant contribution to the welfare and productivity of judicial officers.

“Every journey begins with a step. The important thing is that development is taking place, and I believe similar interventions will extend to other government institutions and agencies,” he said.

The former Imo governorship candidate stressed the need for Abuja to reflect the status of a modern capital city that could compare favourably with major capitals across the world.

He said sustained investments in infrastructure, security and environmental sanitation were necessary to improve the city’s image and enhance the experience of residents and visitors.

Nwosu maintained that the ongoing transformation of Abuja deserved recognition, describing Wike’s stewardship as one of the most impactful in the history of the FCT. (NAN)
