The Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the second Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji.
In a condolence message addressed to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Friday, NOCRELA described the death of the elder statesman as a monumental loss to Nigeria.
The letter was signed by the Secretary General of the assembly, Rev. Simon Dolly, on behalf of its Chairman, Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel.
Dolly stated that the demise of the prominent leader was a loss not only to his immediate family and the Sultanate Council, but also to the entire nation where he was widely respected for his wisdom and commitment to peace.
”On behalf of our Chairman, His Grace, Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel, and the entire leadership of NOCRELA, I extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, the Sultanate Council, the bereaved family, and the Government and people of Sokoto State,” Dolly stated.
He noted that the late Sardauna left behind an enduring legacy of dedication to human service, exemplary leadership, patriotism, and humility.
”The late Second Sardauna of Sokoto will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the promotion of peace, unity, religious harmony, and the progress of our dear nation, Nigeria.
“His life will remain a source of inspiration to present and future generations,” he added.
Dolly affirmed the solidarity of the Christian assembly with the Sultanate and the entire Muslim Ummah during the period of mourning.
He expressed hope that the shared grief would serve to further unite Nigerians across religious and ethnic divides.
”We pray that this unfortunate loss will further strengthen the bonds of unity, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians, irrespective of faith or ethnic background.
”We earnestly pray that Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, forgives all the shortcomings of the departed, accepts his good deeds, grants him eternal rest, and blesses him with eternal peace,” the statement added.
NOCRELA also prayed for God to grant the Sultan, the Sultanate Council, the family, and associates of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
