The Nigerian Army says the establishment of the Comprehensive Service Centre in Bauchi State, will enhance serviceability of military equipment to end insecurity in the country.
Managing Director of the Centre, Maj.-Gen. Chima A. Ekeator, stated this during a facility tour of the centre, on Thursday in Bauchi.
The centre was established in 2025 in partnership with the China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO).
Ekeator said that the centre was designed to carryout comprehensive maintenance of military equipment supplied by the NORINCO, for various levels of maintenance up to level 4.
He said that the services include major overhaul; replacement of major assemblies, and retrofitting.
“Whatever might be the condition of equipment used in the field, once they are brought here they will go back as new.
“The centre will help to improve equipment availability to the Nigerian Army, particularly for the ongoing operations in the North-East, North-West and across the country,” he said.
According to Ekeator, the centre will provide training to army personnel for equipment support activities in the field.
He said that the centre has capacity to simultaneously maintain 20-equipment, cutting across infantry, armoury and artillery pieces.
Earlier, Maj.-Gen. Sunday Mokolo, the Commander, Nigeria Armour School Bauchi, expressed optimism of a sustainable partnership between the army and NORINCO, to boost supply of military equipment.
Also, an official of NORINCO, said that the partnership will foster relations between Nigeria and China, as well as the Nigerian Army and NORINCO. (NAN)( www.nannews.ng)
