Mrs Oghogho Egharevba, an evangelist and businesswoman, has called for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths in Suleja, Niger.
Egharevba made the call in a statement on Friday, while recounting security concerns involving her family that prompted her to leave the area.
According to a police incident report, she relocated with her family to Suleja in December 2025 and continued her morning evangelism.
She told the police that a neighbour later cautioned her about possible opposition to religious preaching in the area, and that an unidentified man had also advised her to stop, a development she reported to the police at the time.
She said a confrontation occurred at her residence on April 27, during which family members were involved and property was damaged.
Egharevba said her husband could not be located afterward but later contacted her from an unfamiliar telephone number.
She said she was subsequently informed of proceedings involving her son, relating to comments reportedly made during the incident and a penalty said to have been imposed.
Egharevba then left Suleja with her children, citing concerns for their safety.
She called on religious leaders, community authorities and residents to encourage mutual respect and dialogue among people of different faiths.
She also urged authorities to ensure that religious disagreements were handled through lawful and peaceful means, saying people should be able to practise their faith responsibly while respecting the beliefs and rights of others.
The police report said her complaint was received and documented, and that she was advised to take necessary security precautions pending further investigation.
