Medical Director urges youths to drive healthcare innovation

Dr Adeolu Arogundade, the Medical Director, Isolo General Hospital, Lagos State, has urged youths to develop innovative ideas capable of improving healthcare delivery.
Arogundade made the call on Friday when the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Isolo Local Chapter, visited the hospital.
The delegation was led by its Coordinator, Damilola Kushimo, who engaged the hospital management on community healthcare development.
Arogundade emphasised the strategic role of young people in society, citing their creativity, energy and numerical strength as key advantages.
He urged youths to channel these strengths toward developing practical solutions that could transform healthcare services and improve community wellbeing.
According to him, the future of healthcare goes beyond conventional hospital-based services and requires greater emphasis on prevention and technology.
He also identified patient involvement, home-based care and health insurance as important components of the evolving healthcare system.
Arogundade said: “The next level of health is healthcare beyond hospital walls.
“Prevention, technology, home care, and health insurance will be key. Everyone must take responsibility for their health.”
The medical director pledged the hospital’s support for youth-led health initiatives aimed at addressing healthcare challenges within the community.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between healthcare institutions and community organisations to make essential health services more accessible.
“You have to lead us into the community for more effective engagement. Together, we will take healthcare to the next level,” he said.
Arogundade said stronger community engagement would enable health institutions to better understand local needs and develop interventions suited to residents.
He encouraged the NYCN to mobilise young people toward programmes promoting preventive healthcare, health education and responsible health-seeking behaviour.
Also speaking, the hospital’s Head of Human Resources, Mr James Dawodu, urged youths to promote health awareness across communities in Isolo.
Dawodu particularly encouraged them to focus on proper waste disposal and environmental sanitation to prevent diseases and improve public health.
He said sustained community awareness and responsible environmental practices could complement efforts by healthcare institutions to promote healthier living.
Responding, Kushimo assured the hospital management of NYCN Isolo’s commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders to create a healthier community.
Kushimo commended the hospital management for its openness and dedication to providing quality healthcare services to residents.
He expressed optimism that stronger collaboration between youths, healthcare providers and community stakeholders would produce sustainable improvements in healthcare delivery. (NAN)
