A Dutse Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, on Monday discharged a businesswoman, Hajara Jibril, of pouring hot water on her neighbour.
The police charged Jibril, of Gudna Village, Abuja, with causing grievous hurt.
The Senior Magistrate,Mr Ibrahim Alkali, ordered that Jibril should be discharged
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ogehenekaro Agbodo, told the court that the complainant, David Onnkuro, reported the matter at the Deidei Divisional Police Headquarters on June 4.
She said that on June 3, Onnkuro went out to buy food items but, on returning home, discovered that he had been locked out.
Agbodo said that while Onnkuro complained that his brother had locked him out, the defendant shouted at him to leave her side of the apartment.
The prosecutor said an altercation ensued between both parties, after which Jibril allegedly entered her apartment and brought out a bowl containing hot water.
She said Jibril poured the hot water on Onnkuro’s face, causing injuries to his head and left eye.
Agbodo said the defendant showed no concern for her neighbour inspite of the injuries he sustained during the incident.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 265 of the Penal Code Law.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Ebenezer Abdul, however, informed the court that the complainant had agreed to withdraw the case.
The prosecuting counsel did not object to the withdrawal of the case. (NAN)
