Hon. Mohammad Danjuma, also known as Garkuwa Babba, a former African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives aspirant, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State.
Danjuma, former National Chairman of the ADC House of Representatives Aspirants Forum, received his APC membership card in Herwagana Ward, Gombe, at a ceremony attended by party leaders, stakeholders and supporters.
The APC Ward Chairman presented the card to Danjuma, while the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Dr Jamilu Gwamna, later formally welcomed him into the party.
Danjuma had contested the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency seat under the ADC before announcing his defection to the APC on Sept. 7.
He attributed the decision to consultations and his political aspirations, while pledging his grassroots structure to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At a meeting with Gov. Muhammadu Yahaya, who is also the APC leader in Gombe, in Abuja on Monday after his defection, Danjuma said he would mobilise his political network for Gwamna and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Yahaya welcomed Danjuma into the party and said his defection would strengthen the APC.
Danjuma also cited Yahaya’s leadership and development record in the state as a reason for his decision to join the APC.
Gwamna emerged as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election following consultations among party stakeholders and was formally unveiled by the party in May.
The development comes as political parties in Gombe intensify mobilisation and consolidation of their structures ahead of the 2027 general elections. (NAN)
