Trinity University, Yaba, Lagos, has secured National Universities Commission (NUC) approval for three additional programmes and added 850 bed spaces to its facilities.
Pastor Samuel Olatunji, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, disclosed this on Thursday at the dedication of the university’s newly acquired six-storey annex.
Olatunji said the developments reflected the university’s 30-year journey of faith, perseverance and commitment to sustaining its mission.
“Thirty years, swimming in faith, walking, believing, praying and doing the little we can, knowing God owns the work,” Olatunji said
He added that the institution remained committed to building on its achievements while trusting successive generations to sustain its mission.
Prof. Clement Kolawole, Vice-Chancellor, said the newly approved programmes were Community Health, Public Health and Environmental Health.
Kolawole said the additional programmes increased the university’s fully accredited programmes to 22, strengthening its academic offerings.
He said the new six-storey annex contains student accommodation, laboratories, classrooms, a cafeteria and library.
He said the additional accommodation would resolve a major constraint to admission, as most prospective students require residential facilities.
“Before the acquisition of this property, we had the challenge of accommodation because most prospective students want to have accommodation,” he said.
He said the university would continue to prioritise timely commencement of academic activities, staff and student welfare, and a conducive teaching and learning environment.
Kolawole urged students to comply with university regulations, attend lectures, use the library, complete assignments and prepare adequately for examinations.
He said parents could pay school fees in four instalments of 40 per cent, 20 per cent, 20 per cent and 20 per cent to ease financial burden, but must meet agreed payment obligations.
According to him, the arrangement was designed to ease families’ financial burden while supporting affordability and uninterrupted education.
Kolawole, however, said parents were expected to meet agreed payment obligations while the university fulfilled its responsibility of educating and supporting students.
Delivering the dedication sermon, the General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church Nigeria, Rev. Sam Aboyeji, described the development as evidence of God’s presence and said dedicating the building invoked God’s favour and grace upon the institution.
He said the university’s motto, ‘Building on the Rock’, affirmed God’s centrality to the institution. (NAN)
