The KindNest Care Foundation (KCF), a humanitarian organisation, has called for collective support for vulnerable children, families, patients and healthcare institutions.
Mr Hanson Olatunbi, Convener of the foundation, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) ahead of its 14th anniversary.
He said KCF, established in 2012, had focused on providing practical assistance to people facing social, health and economic challenges.
Olatunbi said the organisation, initially established as Matured Minders Initiative for the Less Privileged Ones and registered in 2013, had expanded into healthcare, child welfare, education, humanitarian relief and community development.
He said its interventions had covered Lagos, Abuja, Abeokuta, Ibadan and Port Harcourt, providing food, clothing, educational materials, medical support and hospital equipment.
According to him, children had remained a major focus of the foundation’s humanitarian interventions.
He said its early interventions included support for children at the Special Children Approved School, Idi-Araba, Lagos, in 2013, where it donated musical instruments, exercise books, toiletries and financial assistance.
The foundation also supported residents of the Old People’s Home in Yaba and, in 2014, donated a washing machine, food items, medicines and toiletries to children at Ark of Refuge Orphanage, Abuja.
Olatunbi said the interventions had continued, with support extended to orphanage homes in different locations.
He said an orphanage in Ikorodu, Lagos, received food items, antiseptics, toiletries, clothing and financial support for 18 children and five caregivers in 2024.
He added that Stella Obasanjo Children’s Home, Abeokuta, received food, clothing, shoes and toiletries for 34 children in February 2025.
According to him, Mother Theresa Home, Abuja, received a refrigerator, shoes, educational materials, food items and toiletries for 30 children in May 2025.
He said HeCareth Home, Ibadan, received a deep freezer, food items and toiletries for more than 50 children in October 2025.
Olatunbi said healthcare had also become a major intervention area, including support for children undergoing cancer treatment.
He said KCF provided financial assistance to children receiving cancer treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja, in 2018 and returned to the Oncology Department in May 2026 to support 13 children.
He said the foundation also supported a medical intervention at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Ikeja, Lagos, in 2024, with medical equipment, food, antiseptics and toiletries for children and patients.
Olatunbi said KCF was also investing in youth development through NestBuilders, its youth arm, which focuses on leadership training, mentoring, community engagement and practical learning.
He said the foundation’s next phase would focus more on maternal and newborn healthcare, beginning with support for Oba Adeyemi II Maternity Hospital, Abeokuta.
Olatunbi said the 14th anniversary would be used to mobilise wider support and strengthen partnerships with government institutions, companies, development agencies, healthcare organisations and individual donors.
He said the anniversary, Annual General Meeting, Grand Banquet, Gala and Awards would hold on Nov. 7 in Abeokuta, Ogun.
According to him, the event would also recognise partners and supporters who had contributed to the foundation’s interventions over the years.
Olatunbi said KCF remained committed to accountability through financial oversight, procurement procedures, safeguarding, child protection and conflict-of-interest standards.
He said sustained partnerships and responsible humanitarian action could help the foundation expand its reach to more vulnerable people. (NAN) www.nannews.ng
