Abuja, Oct. 1, 2026 (NAN) Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a level-playing field for all political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
IPAC’s National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Dantalle, made the call while congratulating Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 66th Independence Day on Thursday in Abuja.
He also called for patriotism, unity, tolerance and good governance.
Dantalle urged Nigerians to participate actively in the 2027 general elections and vote for their preferred candidates.
“INEC should ensure a level-playing field for all the political parties and their candidates, and ensure the elections are free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive.
“After 66 years of independence and 27 years of unbroken democracy in Nigeria, we should get it right. 66 years of independence is a milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.
“We have navigated political upheavals, military interventions, civil war, economic recessions and socio-religious storms, and remain resolute in building a strong, united, stable, equitable and just democratic society.
“The Nigerian spirit is unbroken, brilliant, resilient and boundless. Let us move forward with faith in ourselves and faith in our country,” he said.
Dantalle commended the vision and sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers who gallantly fought for the nation’s independence from the British colonial masters.
He urged governments at all levels to prioritise the security and welfare of the people, in tandem with the provisions of Section 14(2)b of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
According to him, true independence today is not just about casting off the chains of the past, but about breaking free from poverty and insecurity that impede the nation’s democratic governance.
“As the umbrella body of all registered political parties, IPAC is committed to sustainable democracy and development in Nigeria.(NAN)
