Nigeria@66: APM harps on Nigeria’s reset through 2027 elections

Allied People’s Movement (APM) has called for a reset of Nigeria through the 2027 general elections.

The ‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌party’s National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Dantalle, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

Reflecting on 66 years of statehood, Dantalle commended the founding fathers for securing independence from Britain on Oct. 1, 1960.

He noted that citizens had continuously passed through political, economic and social hurdles due to their resilience and faith.

“APM commends the nation’s founding fathers who, in spite of all odds, secured the much-needed independence from Britain on Oct. 1, 1960.

“Today, we celebrate our unity in diversity and our resolve, commitment and determination to reset Nigeria to work for all,” he said.

While stating that citizens had endured immense hardship and insecurity due to poor leadership despite abundant natural resources, Dantalle positioned his party as a vehicle for change.

“APM is on a rescue mission to redirect the ship of the nation from its perilous course to the path of rectitude, progress, development and advancement,” he said.

The APM national chairman emphasised that the organisation was actively working to alter the country’s trajectory.

“APM is on a rescue mission to redirect the ship of the nation from its perilous course to the path of rectitude, progress, development and advancement.

“A new and greater Nigeria remained attainable under their banner,” he said.

Addressing the structural flaws of previous administrations, Dantalle criticised what he called the culture of political gambling, which he blamed for the nation’s entrenched security vulnerabilities and cost-of-living crisis.

“The era of gambling with our national destiny is over. It is what puts us in this governance quagmire of perennial insecurity and economic hardship.

“Nigerians are no longer safe in their own country and not sure where the next meal will come from,” he stated.

Dantalle called for mass mobilisation behind the ‘Reset Nigeria’ movement, urging citizens to vote for the Makinde-Daura presidency and all APM candidates in the 2027 general elections.

He maintained that the upcoming ballots must be transparent, credible and reflective of the public will.

He urged the electorate to seize the upcoming electoral window to reject the status quo and elect leaders who would prioritise national interest above partisan divisions, ensuring the country finally stepped into its full potential of peace and prosperity.

“The upcoming 2027 general election offers us another opportunity to vote for competent leaders who will put Nigeria first, as the APM motto symbolises.

“As we celebrate the nation’s 66th independence, let us aspire for a new Nigeria built on unity, peace, progress and development,” Dantalle said. (NAN)
