A security guard, Friday Zeko, was on Wednesday docked in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja for allegedly selling his employer’s chicken feeders worth N5,000 000.

The Prosecution Counsel, Chinenye Okafor, told the court that the complainant, Udoh Ejikeme reported the matter at the Kabusa Police Station on Sept.19.

Okafor alleged that the complainant employed the defendant as a security guard in his poultry farm in Ketti village, Airport road, Abuja.

She further alleged that the defendant took 200 pieces of chicken feeders worth N5 million and sold them without the complainant’s consent.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 312 of the Penal Code Law.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty.

The Defence Counsel, Helen Akpala applied for bail of the defendant pending the determination of the case citing Sections 158 and 162 of Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

Akpala prayed for the court to exercise its discretion in favour of the defendant adding that he had a credible surety if granted.

Magistrate Oyepeju Mustapha admitted the defendant to N1 million bail with two sureties who must reside and work within the court’s jurisdiction.

Mustapha ordered that the sureties must provide means of identification and  their addresses verified by the court’s registrar.

He adjourned the matter until Oct.19 for hearing.(NAN)
