The International President, De Norsemen Kclub International (DNKI), Chief Oliver Ityohegh, has advocated prioritisation of kindness, compassion and love for humanity for global advancement.

Ityohegh said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday in appreciation of humanitarian workers and promotion of peaceful co-existence.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that humanitarian day is set aside annually to honour humanitarian workers and to demonstrate support for people affected by crises around the world

The Civil Society Organisation leader called on his members to extend hands of fellowship and true love to others for global peace and prosperity.

“I call on all Norsemen across the globe to demonstrate the true spirit of brotherhood by extending genuine love, compassion and practical assistance to individuals and communities in need,” he said.

He said that humanitarian service should not be limited to special occasions but should be a way of life, with collective efforts to build a more caring, inclusive and peaceful society.

Ityohegh, therefore, reaffirmed the commitment of the club to participating actively in activities aimed at alleviating hardship, promoting community development and strengthening the bonds of unity.

According to him, our guiding principle, “Service to Humanity,” is more than a motto; but a responsibility on every Norseman to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

He said that through acts of compassion, kindness and love, man’s lost dignity and that of the society could be collectively restored.

He urged all DNKI members and well-meaning individuals to sustain and expand humanitarian interventions in disaster-affected communities by providing relief materials, food, clothing and medical assistance.

Ityohegh reiterated the imperatives of being attentive to the plight of displaced persons, orphans, persons with disabilities, the elderly and vulnerable groups that required collective support to rebuild their lives.

He called on governments at different levels to prioritise effective emergency response systems aimed at strengthening disaster preparedness for timely delivery of relief services.

Ityohegh commended the efforts of the National Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Federal Fire Service, State Emergency Management Agencies, and others for their contributions to disaster response.

“Their commitment to protecting lives and assisting affected communities deserves recognition and continued support.

“We acknowledge that government alone cannot address every humanitarian challenge.

“Therefore, a stronger partnership among government agencies, civil society organisations, community leaders, the private sector and voluntary groups is essential to building a responsive and compassionate society,” he said.

He reaffirmed its determination to continue contributing to the welfare of humanity through responsible engagement, humanitarian outreach and community-focused initiatives.

According to him, we believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the potential to transform a life, restore hope and inspire others to do good.

He said that humanity should always come first in advancing hope and building communities in line with Sustainable Development Goals of leave no one behind. (NAN)
