Sen. Osita Ngwu, representing Enugu West Senatorial District, has commenced the construction of the Agolo–Efulu–Aguabosi–Ugwuoba Road in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Ngwu, who performed the work on Monday, assured residents that the first phase of the road would be asphalted before December 2026.

The lawmaker said the project was part of his commitment to improving road infrastructure, boosting economic activities and enhancing the welfare of his constituents.

He assured the people that the contractor would remain on site until the first phase of the project was completed, warning the contractor against abandoning the project under the guise of inadequate funding but ensuring timely and quality delivery.

“The APC-led government has brought this road project to Ugwuoba, and I assure you that asphalt will be laid on the road before December 2026,” he said.

The senator, who noted that the road was opened in 1972, expressed optimism that its reconstruction would improve transportation and ease the movement of people, goods and services within the communities.

He urged residents to exercise patience, saying that meaningful development required time and sustained commitment.

He also commended Gov. Peter Mbah for his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and transformation of the state.

According to him, the road project aligns with the governor’s vision of delivering infrastructure that will positively impact the lives of residents.

He reaffirmed his commitment to attracting more people-oriented projects to Enugu West Senatorial District to stimulate economic growth and improve living standards.

The legislator urged the people to sustain their support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure continuity in governance and consolidation of ongoing development projects.

The member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, Mr Anayo Onwuegbu, alongside other government officials and political stakeholders witnessed the event.

Commending the senator, former Oji-River Council Chairman, Mr Harrison Okeke, noted that roads in the area had been in very deplorable state, adding that the construction would open the communities. (NAN)
