Immediate past governor of Edo, Godwin Obaseki has expressed sadness over the death of former Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta, saying that he pursued a vision of a ”Delta Beyond Oil”.

Obaseki, in a condolence message on Tuesday in Abuja, said Uduaghan’s death was a loss to his family, Delta, the South-South region and Nigeria’s political community.

He said the deceased served with dedication and contributed meaningfully to the development of Delta and Nigeria throughout his years in public service.

Obaseki, a researcher and scholar at the School of African Studies, Boston University, United States, said Uduaghan, a medical doctor by training, brought a deep sense of service to public life.

“He pursued a vision of a Delta beyond oil, invested in the welfare of his people and championed regional cooperation among the states of the South-South.

“His years in public service remain an important part of the history of the state.

“Beyond the offices he held, Uduaghan’s life reminds us of the enduring value of public service and the duty of leadership to make a real difference in the lives of the people,” he said.

According to him, the relationships Uduaghan built and contributions he made would endure as part of his legacy, beyond the offices he occupied.

Obaseki extended condolences to Uduaghan’s family, the Delta government and people, as well as those who worked with him during his public service.

He prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.(NAN)
