Chinese and foreign participants at the 2026 Global Governance Forum in Xiong’an, China, have generated more than 450 proposals to reform and improve global governance under the Xiong’an Vision.
Mr Wu Ken, President of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), disclosed this at the closing press conference of the forum on Sunday in Xiong’an New Area, Hebei Province, China.
Wu said the proposals reflected the forum’s success in building international consensus and identifying practical solutions to global governance challenges.
He said participants had completed the scheduled activities and made recommendations on strengthening international cooperation amid global changes.
“We are of the view that the world today is entering a new period of turbulence and transformation.
“In face of growing and increasingly severe global challenges, the call for reforming and improving the global governance system is getting stronger, and the task, more urgent.
“The earlier the international community acts together, the better it is for the whole world,” Wu said.
The forum, themed “Rebuilding Confidence and Cooperation: Reforming and Improving Global Governance in a Transforming World,” brought together Chinese and international representatives.
Wu identified consolidating international consensus and public support for a fairer and more equitable global governance system as the forum’s first major achievement.
He said Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech at the opening ceremony demonstrated China’s sense of responsibility as a major country and reflected the aspirations of many countries and peoples.
According to him, the speech encouraged the international community to strengthen solidarity, address shared challenges and pursue a fairer international order.

Wu said the forum also demonstrated the value of multilateralism by bringing together representatives from different countries and sectors to discuss governance reforms.
He identified advancing the implementation of China’s Global Governance Initiative as the second achievement, citing eight practical actions announced by Foreign Minister Wang Yi to promote a fairer and more equitable global governance system.
Wu said participants welcomed the measures, expressing confidence that they would strengthen efforts to improve global governance.
He added that several institutions released research reports, established dialogue mechanisms and launched cooperation projects to translate discussions into practical initiatives.
The third achievement, he said, was promoting exchanges between China’s governance experience and international practices, particularly through visits to Xiong’an New Area.
Wu said participants considered Xiong’an’s development experience a useful reference for addressing governance challenges, generating ideas for cooperation and promoting shared development.
He added that the forum provided an inclusive platform for countries, particularly those in the Global South, to participate in international governance on an equal footing.
Wu said participants also called for the forum to sustain its work, with the long-term goal of translating dialogue into lasting cooperation and practical outcomes.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forum also released a document titled Global Governance: Xiong’an Vision. (NAN)
