The Bishop of Keffi-Karshi Missionary Diocese, the Rt. Rev’d Gershinen Dajur, has called on the Christian faithful to embrace the Cross as a symbol of sacrifice, truth, forgiveness and service.

This is contained in his  pastoral message in Abuja to mark Good Friday which commemorates the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

The  message was entitled:  “The Mystery and Mandate of Good Friday.”

Dajur noted that the solemnity of the day offers a profound revelation of divine love through suffering.

According to him, the passion of Christ represents the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purpose, where mercy is bestowed upon humanity.

”In our present age, marked by uncertainty, injustice, and spiritual weariness, the Cross speaks with urgent clarity.

”It confronts our complacency and calls us to a deeper and more authentic discipleship.

“We are summoned to become bearers of our cross in following Christ, formed by sacrifice, obedience, and love,” the Bishop said.

Dajur charged christians and the clergy to remain steadfast in proclaiming the message of “Christ crucified” as the core of the Christian faith.

He urged them to let their lives reflect the self-giving love they preach.

Turning his attention to the laity, the Bishop exhorted them to manifest their faith through tangible actions.

”Do not reduce the Cross to mere symbol, but take it up daily in faithful witness, through forgiveness, truth, and compassionate service, especially to the poor and the suffering among us,” he said.

While acknowledging the “solemn silence” of Good Friday, the cleric reminded the diocese that the Cross was not an end point but a threshold of resurrection.

He encouraged the congregation to remain a people of hope, trusting in God’s power to bring life out of death and use the season to renew their devotion to the service of God and humanity.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
