The Federal Commissioner representing Katsina State, Mr Bala Almu-Banye, made the disclosure at a meeting with media executives in the state, on Wednesday in Katsina.
Almu-Banye said that the purpose of the meeting was to update them on the status of the preparations for the 2023 Census and the next steps forward.
He said that the commission had recruited adequate ad hoc staff for effective coverage of all the nooks and crannies of the entire state during the exercise.
According to him, the ad hoc staff are to work in their local governments of residence in order to achieve the set targets.
The Federal Commissioner, therefore, urged residents to cooperate with the enumerators and provide answers to the questions raised.
“The information will be treated as confidential and only for the purpose of the exercise.
“We were all sworn not to reveal people’s secrets, likewise, all the enumerators and supervisors will take oath before they start the exercise,” he said.
He further said that the information given to the enumerators would be digitally transmitted directly to the commission’s server through the Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), which is a machine like a mobile phone.
Almu-Banye further said that the NPC would work with traditional and community leaders to ensure that people who reside in hard-to-reach areas were counted.
He explained that such leaders would provide guides who would assist enumerators in reaching people in remote communities.
Responding on behalf of the media executives, the General Manager, Gram FM, Alhaji Bashir Ahmed, thanked the commission for carrying them along in the exercise.
Ahmed assured that the media would continue to enlighten people on the importance of the exercise so as to achieve the desired objective.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Security critical to growth, survival of Nigeria, says NIPR boss

Security critical to growth, survival of Nigeria, says NIPR boss

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) says security is critical to the growth and survival of the country.

The President of NIPR, Malam Mukhtar Sirajo, said this at the official presentation of the report of the Citizens Summit held in August 2022 tagged: “Rebooting Nigeria 2.0”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Citizens Summit was borne out of an objective assessment of the state of the nation, analysis of findings from credible sources on certain challenges confronting the country.

It was also borne out of a clear conviction that Nigerians at home and abroad were yearning for a platform that would offer them the opportunity to peacefully ventilate their concerns and contribute to the dialogue on nation building.

Sirajo stressed the need for effective and dynamic security by the new service chiefs to ensure economic stability.

“Our situational analysis revealed among other issues that all was not well with the state of affairs in the land.

“While there was loss of hope among the youth, the trust gap between the people and state institutions was widening fast; social tension mounted across the land, as violent aspirations and agitations threatened the foundation of our national existence.

“We are delighted now to note that President Bola Tinubu has begun the process of consensus building and reconciliation at a certain level.

“We commend the recognition and understanding of the Federal Government that this is a major area of priority and appreciate its efforts so far in that important direction.

“However, the NIPR strongly recommends that these engagements should be professionally coordinated and managed to ensure that the outcome meets the desired results.

“As perception and reputation managers, we clearly understand the dynamics that being a very sensitive matter, the process could possibly backfire, if the professional expertise required is not properly deployed,” he said.

Sirajo said the institute and its partners would make themselves available to work with the federal, state and local governments in managing the engagements to ensure credible and sustainable outcomes.

The Chairman, National Planning Committee for the Citizen’s Summit, Dr Ike Neliaku, said for the country to succeed, there must be a collaborative action to drive positive thinking.

“It was, therefore, against this background and in furtherance of its mandate that the leadership of the institute felt that we could no longer continue to fold our arms and watch the situation deteriorate further.

“Then there was the need to widen the space for inclusion and participation in national conversation and foster mutual understanding among the various segments of the country,” Neliaku said.

Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, a member of the NIPR Council who presented the report, said that all hands must be on deck to achieve the desired result.

Dandaura said that the search for solutions to national challenges should be done more by the majority of the citizens who feel the brunt, than the minority.

“Rather than have another talk shop for the elites, the summit availed the citizens at the lowest strata of the society unique opportunities to contribute toward finding solutions to some of the intractable developmental challenges confronting Nigeria.

“The aggregate of the opinions at the lower levels was received at the state chapter levels, then the six geo-political zones in Nigeria, including the Nigeria Diaspora population constituting the seventh.

“To my mind, the engaging title ‘Rebooting Nigeria’ derives from the understanding that governance is a system which is driven by a carefully designed programme akin to the computer system driven by an operating system.

“The operating system, being software, requires regular updates to cater for new challenges. More so, the computer system is susceptible to viruses which are often consciously designed and planted by malicious parties.

“Therefore, for that system to function optimally, there must be continuous threats and vulnerability mapping.

“Where viruses are detected, they must be promptly diagnosed and removed either by deleting the malicious programme or installing updates that will override the corrupted programmes,” he said.

Dandaura noted that the benefit of deleting a virus or installing an update in a system, can only take effect when the system has successfully been rebooted.

The summit report covered thematic areas such as youth, women, security, education, economy, industry, foreign investment, national reputation, inclusive governance and Nigeria in a globalised economy among other key national issues. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

Fuel price: Group seeks urgent steps to mitigate inflationary effects on less priviledged

A group, Advocacy for Positive Behavioral Patterns Initiative (AFPBPI) has urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently take immediate action to reduce fuel prices and mitigate the inflationary effects on the less priviledged.

Mr Bamidele Mann, Director of Campaign Team of the AFPBPI, made the call while addressing newsmen in Abuja.

“The initiative is deeply concerned over the recent increase in fuel price from N539 to N617 per litre and the impact of such an increase on the less privileged in our society.

“The recent increase in fuel prices has further burdened the Nigerian population, particularly the impoverished segments of society.

“This rise has not only escalated the cost of transportation, affecting daily commutes for individuals and families, but has also triggered an overall increase in the prices of essential commodities.

“As a result, the vulnerable members of our society are struggling to make ends meet, compromising their basic needs, and undermining their quality of life,” he said.

He acknowledge that managing fuel prices was s a complex issue influenced by several factors, such as global market dynamics and economic consideration.

Mann said that the initiative firmly believed that it was the responsibility of the government to implement effective measures to alleviate the financial burden on the less privileged and restore stability to the economy.

He urgently called for policies that prioritise the welfare and well-being of the people.

“We call upon the president to initiate dialogue with relevant stakeholders, including industry experts, economists, and representatives from civil society organisations.

“The dialogue will help to develop comprehensive strategies that address the root causes of escalating fuel prices while curbing inflation.

“By adopting proactive measures, such as implementing transparent pricing mechanisms, exploring alternative energy sources, and promoting investments in the petroleum sector, the president can steer the nation towards sustainable economic growth and social equity,” he said.

According to him, it will not only provide immediate relief to the less privileged but also lay the foundation for a prosperous and inclusive future for all Nigerians.

He said that the initiative would support the government’s efforts in tackling the issue.

“We are committed to collaborating with relevant ministries, agencies, and organisations to promote awareness, conduct research, and develop effective interventions aimed at improving the lives of the most vulnerable members of society,” Mann said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

FG commits to affordable electric vehicles for Nigerians through PPP

FG commits to affordable electric vehicles for Nigerians through PPP

The Federal Government says it will collaborate with the private sector to make Electric Vehicles (EVs) available and affordable for Nigerians.

The Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu, said this when he addressed newsmen on the sidelines of the Validation Workshop of the Draft National Action Plan for the Development of EVs in Nigeria, in Abuja.

The workshop, organised on Tuesday, by the council, has as its theme, ”Positioning Nigeria among the leading countries in Vehicle Electrification”.

According to Aliyu, buying an EV entails paying more when initially purchasing the vehicle, but the total cost of ownership is much more less.

He said: “This is because one is dealing with a machine that does not need those things that could typically go wrong in a traditional petrol or diesel engine.

“No engine oil change, piston, plugs, crank shaft and all those things that can typically go wrong in a traditional petrol or diesel engine are absent in an EV.

“So, the total cost of ownership, the total amount of money that you spend over a life time of the vehicle is much less.”

According to the director-general, the council is using the National Automotive Industry Development Plan(NAIDP)2023 and this specific EV policy to push forward a vehicle financing scheme.

He said: “With this, Nigerians could put down just a little bit of the cost of an EV, drive it off to their homes and pay up within five to six years.

“We believe this will really tremendously help towards attainability of such vehicles.

“And then we are also working with both manufacturers within and outside to introduce and produce EVs that are cheaper.

“So, as we move forward we will work both with the private sector and other government agencies to bring down the cost of EVs.”

According to Aliyu, the main objective of the policy is to put forward both physical and non-physical incentives to promote the production and introduction of EVs in Nigeria.

He said it also ensured the action plan that enabled the development of these types of vehicles in the country was put in place.

On the charging infrastructure for the EVs, Aliyu said NADDC developed 300 per cent solar powered EV charging stations in some Nigerian Universities to aid technology transfer.

He said they were built at the University of Lagos, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto, with the fourth one in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, which had a fast charger.

Aliyu said: “We are collaborating with more universities to set up more charging infrastructure and that is purely government side.

”Already, there are private sectors that have set up charging stations and we have been working with them, supporting them to set up charging infrastructure.

”If everything gets according to plan and if we get the necessary approvals, before the end of the year, we will be able to see these charging stations pop up across the country.

”Making it easy to own these electric vehicles, at the same time make it expedite, the production of these types of vehicles in the country.”

The Director-General, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission(ICRC), Michael Ohiani, represented by the commission’s Director of Research, Planning and Statistics, Emmanuel Onwodi, reiterated the commission’s desire to support the project.

Ohiani, while congratulating the NADDC boss, said the commission remained committed to the vision and would render all the necessary support to ensure an effective PPP arrangement.

Representatives of the Rural Electrification Agency, Vasco Technologies, OMAA Motors, Jet Systems, Lanre Shitu Motors and Phoenix renewables, among others also reiterated their commitment to the project. (NAN)(www.nanews.ng)

NESREA, UPTRON sign MoU on used tyres disposal

NESREA, UPTRON sign MoU on used tyres disposal

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Used Tyres Producers Responsibility Organisation of Nigeria (UTPRON) on the menace of used tyres disposal in Nigeria.

Prof. Aliyu Jauro, Director-General of NESREA while signing on behalf of the agency, said it is aimed to enhance the management of End-of-Life (EOL) tyres for the sustainable development of our environment.

He said that statistics reveal that one billion EOL tyres are generated globally, with approximately four billion currently occupying landfills and stockpiles worldwide.

“In Nigeria alone, the automobile sector generates around 10 million tyres each year without environmentally friendly management traceability data,“he said.

“These figures highlight the urgent need for proactive measures to address the management of EOL tyres in the country,“he said.

Jauro said that to ensure the protection of the environment, public health and biodiversity, the Agency has operationalized 34 national environmental regulations.

He said that they include the National Environmental (Domestic and Industrial Plastic, Rubber, and Foa sector) Regulations and where tyres are encapsulated.

The D-G said the responsibility of UTPRON includes coordinating Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement in the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), provide expert advisory services to tyre Producers/Collectors/Recyclers and consumers among others.

“All tyres Producer (manufacturers, importers, brand-owners, major distributors of tyres, etc.) are by this launch notified of the operationalisation of the EPR programme for the tyre waste stream or sub-sector,“he said.

He urged all tyre producers, collectors, recyclers and other stakeholders to collaborate with NESREA and UTPRON to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for all Nigerians.

Jauro commended UTPRON for partnering with the agency to tackle and control the menace of EoL tyres in the country.

Mr Willy Nwoye, Chairman of UTPRON said that used tyres pose a significant threat to the environment, public health, and safety.

“Improper disposal methods, such as burning or dumping tyres in open spaces, release toxic fumes and chemicals into the air, water, and soil, leading to severe environmental degradation.

“The current problem we face stems from the alarming rate at which used tyres are being discarded in Nigeria,“he said.

According to him, stagnant water collected in these discarded tyres provides a breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes, amplifying the risk of vector-borne illnesses.

“About 400,000 vehicles are imported into the country annually. Consequently, this vast number of vehicles necessitates a corresponding number of tyres.

“Nigeria generates over two million used tyres annually, and this number is anticipated to rise significantly in the coming years.

“ The importation of vehicles into the country continues unabated, leading to a surge in tyre production and, unfortunately, an escalation in tyre disposal problems,“he said.

Nwoye said that the current rate of growth of used tyres is not sustainable, and if left unaddressed, it will have far-reaching consequences.

“The increasing number of discarded tyres worsens the risk of environmental pollution and poses a direct threat to our communities.

. It is imperative that we take immediate action to mitigate these risks and safeguard the future of our nation.

He said that the partnership is aimed at tackling the issue of used tyres disposal in the country head-on.

“Through collaboration, we are bringing together the expertise, resources, and commitment necessary to implement effective solutions to curtail the growing menace of used tyres disposal,“he said.

He said that the initiative is hinged on economy and environment, where jobs will be created for existing businesses in the tyre management sector and generate employment.

“We are particularly passionate about the role this initiative will play at creating jobs and making new millionaires out of this program, which is driving our goal toward a robust circular economy.

“With our partnership and collective effort, we can pave the way for a sustainable and environmentally conscious Nigeria.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

By Chiazo Ogbolu

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it intercepted 31 rifles within the first two weeks of the month, which were shipped in from United States.

The acting Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, said this at a news conference in Lagos on Monday at the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A.

According to him, this is the recent achievements of the NCS in its ongoing efforts to suppress smuggling and safeguard national security.

Adeniyi noted that some of their dedicated and diligent officers uncovered some smuggled arms and ammunition while on duty at various Commands and formations.

“On July 5, a joint operation with the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Security, the National Drug Law Enforcement and Administration, and the Customs Intelligence Unit at the Ports Terminal and Multi Services Limited Command was conducted.

“A thorough physical examination of a 40ft container was conducted. The examination revealed the concealment of 10 dangerous arms and various rounds of live ammunition inside plastic drums.

“The details are: three new Pump Action rifles and one new unit of an armed rifle, six new different makes of pistols, one new millennium G2 pistol, one new sarsilmaz SAR-9X pistol.

“Others are one new Lugger Security-9 pistol, one new Taurus Banbridge G3C pistol, one new SCCY CPX-2 pistol, and one new Taurus (63 pistol), 14 empty magazines and 442 rounds of live ammunition,” he said.

Adeniyi noted that the clearing agent, Mr Shokunbi Olanrewaju of Shooler Global International Ltd., and one Mr Joseph Nwadiodor, expected to take delivery of the container, are currently detained as suspects in connection with the seizure.

Similarly, he said within the same period, the Tincan Island Port Command of the Service, while acting on credible intelligence, a 1x40ft container was subjected to 100 per cent physical examination with the relevant security agencies at the ports.

He said that the physical examination uncovered 18 arms, packets of cartridges and rounds of live ammunition inside plastic drums.

Adeniyi listed the details as: six different makes of pistols, two Sar9 Sarsilmarz Pistols, one Ruger American Pistol and three Taurus G3c – Bainbridge Pistols.

“Others are 12 different makes of riffles, five Rz17hd Rifles, one Gamo Rifle, five Pump Action Rifles and one (1) Rz17 Tactical Rifle.

“Also included are 10 packets of cartridges, two packets of 9mm ammunition, 100 rounds of 9mm Winchester ammunition, one carton of Frontier cartridges, two packets of Buckshot ammunition,” he said.

Adeniyi said that during a routine patrol along Owode/Ajilete Axis of Ogun State by officers of the Joint Border Patrol Team Sector 2, on July 12, intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry loaded with six sacks of charcoal, used to conceal three pump action riffles with 174 live cartridges.

He said that the driver of the vehicle, who knew the content he was conveying vis-a-vis the attendant consequences of his action before the law; jumped into the bush and escaped arrest.

“Investigation into the seizures is inconclusive. The outcome of our investigations together with the seizures will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

“Illicit arms obtained by non-state actors have boosted the proliferation of small arms and ammunition across the country. This accounts for the increase in violent kidnappings, robberies, and mass killings in society.

“Let me state at this point that the service has re-strategized its operations, while our officers have raised their levels of professionalism, and have keyed into the mantra of renewed hope aimed at facilitating legitimate trade.

“In doing this, we are assuring all compliant traders and importers that they have nothing to fear,” Adeniyi said.

He noted that they had re-injected new tactics to tackle the economic and security menace caused by recalcitrant importers and their agents.

Adeniyi implored importers and agents to be patriotic by making sincere declarations, and to be properly guided by the import and export prohibition lists.

He urged the public to see security as a collective responsibility.

Adeniyi noted that information on illegal importation and cross border movement of dangerous weapons, used to create mayhem in the country, would be appreciated. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

FG, WHO move to strengthen FCTA’s capacity to respond to health emergencies

FG, WHO move to strengthen FCTA’s capacity to respond to health emergencies

By Philip Yatai

The Federal Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO) have taken steps to strengthen the capacity of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to respond to health emergencies effectively.

Mr Malan Haruna, acting Secretary of Health, Health, and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), FCTA, stated this during a meeting organised by the HHSS on Monday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting was tagged, “Scooping Mission on Strengthening and Utilising Response Groups for Emergencies (SURGE) in the Federal Capital Territory”.

Haruna said that the goal of the scooping mission was to strengthen the ability of the FCTA to respond effectively to public health emergencies.

“We have seen our inadequacies over the years, especially during the recent Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in terms of our ability to respond to the pandemic.

“We have learned from that experience, and we are trying to build from it so that we will be able to respond to health emergencies in a more coordinated manner.

“The essence of the scoping mission is to look at where we have failed so we can identify the challenges and find ways to address them for a better response in the future,” he said.

He disclosed that there were 1,249 accredited health facilities made up of 814 primary health facilities and 432 secondary health facilities and three tertiary health facilities in the FCT.

He added that of the 814 primary health facilities, 580 were private facilities, while 234 were public, adding that of the 432 secondary health facilities, 409 were private while 23 were public facilities.

Haruna said that quality and quantity of healthcare workers were still inadequate with skewed distribution towards health facilities in urban areas as against facilities in peripheral areas.

“The FCTA is making efforts to bridge the gap in human resource for health through the recruitment of medical officers, but the number remains inadequate.

“The HHSS is also collaborating with Health Workforce Management to strengthen capacity of health workers for better service delivery in the FCT.

“Also, there is a system for containment of public health emergencies including the availability of a policy and plan on disease outbreak response.

“However, there is no functional infectious diseases hospital in the FCT,” he said.

The Director Public Health, HHSS, Dr Abdulrahman Sadiq, said that the world was faced with the outbreak of diseases that became pandemics or epidemics periodically.

“This is why we must always be prepared to respond to public health emergencies,” he said.

Dr Morenike Alex-Okoh, Director Public Health, Federal Ministry of Health, said that meeting would enable the partners to set up a robust health emergency response team.

Alex-Okoh, who was represented by Dr Nse Akpan, Post Health Services in the ministry, said that the meeting was also to strengthen the capacity to respond to outbreak of any disease.

“We have learned from previous experience and saw the need to strengthen our workforce and have a robust team that can respond to any public health threat at any point in time,” he said.

Also, Dr Kumshida Balami, Coordinator, African Volunteer Corps for SURGE in Nigeria, WHO Country Office, said that the scoping mission was designed to assess the status of FCT’s capacity in response to health emergencies.

Balami said that the activity, which would last up to July 22, would engage stakeholders in the health sector and assess their capacity to respond to emergencies.

She identified some of the challenges affecting emergency response as human resource and lack of agility among the response team, with many of them becoming fatigued during emergency response.

“Another problem is lack of motivation and short supplies of consumables needed to be able to attend to affected persons during emergencies.

“Together we will identify the gaps in emergency response and develop a roadmap with activities and timelines, responsible officers, and monitoring and evaluation framework to close the critical gaps within two years,” she said.

The coordinator said that WHO would provide a technical support digital learning platform to the FCTA for health emergency coordination.

She informed the meeting that WHO would also train in the FCT at least 80 emergency responders to dangerous situations requiring very quick response within 24 to 48 hours.

“WHO will also support the FCTA with vehicles for emergency response including supplies and consumables,” she added. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

Alleged IPPIS scam: SSANU urges FG to merge payment platforms

Alleged IPPIS scam: SSANU urges FG to merge payment platforms

By Joan Nwagwu

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has urged the Federal Government to consider merging the payment platforms developed by the different unions in the University System to address peculiarities.

Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, SSANU National President, made the call in a communique issued on Monday in Abuja at the end the union’s 44th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at Michael Okpara University, Abia.

Ibrahim said NEC in session noted that the merger had become necessary due to the recent fraud in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

It would also be recalled that the university workers had blamed inconsistencies and the failure of the IPPIS to capture the peculiarities of the university system for their rejection.

To address the peculiarities, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had developed the University Transparency Accountability System(UTAS)for the payment of salaries and allowances of University lecturers.

Also, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities(NASU) had developed the Universities Peculiar Personnel Payroll System (U3PS) to address its own issues.

According to him. IPPIS is being used for personal enrichment of staff of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to the detriment of our members and the Federal Government.

“It is on record that the payment platform is fraught with the same corruption that Federal Government claims it wants to fight with it.

“NEC in session is demanding that Federal Government should consider merging the payment platforms developed by ASUU (UTAS) and that of JAC of SSANU and NASU (U3PS), since it is on record that the platforms are capable of addressing the peculiarities of the University system,” he said.

He also said NEC had renewed its call on the Federal government to urgently pay the four months withheld salaries owed to its members, in the interest of industrial harmony in the country’s tertiary education sector.

Ibrahim added that, let it be known to government that our members are yet to recover from the effect of the hardship caused by the withholding of their four months salaries, and may not recover from it unless government does something about it.

“NEC in session views government posture and position on the matter as unfair and unfortunate. We are well aware that salaries for those months were prepared.

“NEC therefore call on government to urgently pay the arrears of our members’ withheld salaries without further delay,” he said.

He further said NEC acknowledged the demise of the Chairman of the Government Team, Prof Nimi Briggs and therefore called on government to reconstitute a new Committee for the renegotiation of the SSANU/FGN 2009 Agreement as the issue was long overdue.

He added that, SSANU has earnestly offered itself for the renegotiation process to commence and awaits the invitation of the Federal Government on the issue.

SSANU president said NEC had called on government to urgently commence payment of arreas of minimum wage implementation since 2018 to some of its members.

Ibrahim said the members include the Federal University Otuoke, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Federal University, Dutsima, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Federal University, Gashua, Yobe, Federal University Kashere, University of Maiduguri.

He said others are Modibo Adamawa University, Yola, University of Benin, Benin, College of Medicine, of the University of Lagos, Idi-Araba and University of Calabar.

He also said government had promised to release the sum of N50 billion for payment of outstanding Earned Allowances to Universities and Inter-University Centres.

He also said the agreement was yet to be fulfilled. NEC in session urged government to release funds for payment of the allowances without further delay as it was provided for in the 2023 budget.

“ NEC in session vehemently condemns the recent arbitrary and blanket dissolution of Governing Councils of Federal Universities by the Federal Government.

” This action is illegal, inimical to the growth and proper functioning and management of Universities in Nigeria, as the appointment of the Governing Councils are tenured in line with the extant laws as gazetted.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Law also provides that Governing Councils can only be dissolved on proven cases of corruption and incompetence,” he said.

He said NEC also demanded that the Councils of universities should be allowed to perform their functions devoid of interference by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation or its agents for that matter.

He added that SSANU is not averse to the introduction of the Student Loan to deserving students who are desirous of higher education and that NEC frowns at the conditions and modalities of accessing the Loan.

“NEC therefore requests government yo review the conditions for the acquisition of the Loan to enable interested students to access and repay same,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
