Passengers unhurt as Kaduna-Abuja train derails

By Moses Kolo

A passenger train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja derailed on Thursday morning, leaving several cabins overturned along the busy corridor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident caused panic among the passengers, many of whom scrambled to safety.

Although details remained sketchy, there were no confirmed reports of casualties as of press time.

The Managing Director of NRC, Mr Kayode Opeifa, told NAN in a telephone interview that “yes, it has been confirmed. But there was no any casualty”.

Eyewitnesses said some coaches were badly affected, with the passengers sustaining minor injuries while trying to exit the overturned cabins.

The exact cause of the derailment was yet to be determined.

However, possible factors being considered include vandalism and scavengers’ activities along the rail line, or mechanical issues such as hot axles.

NAN reports that emergency responders were said to be assessing the situation.

Authorities were also expected to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the derailment.

NAN also reports that this was not the first challenge faced on the route.

The Kaduna-Abuja rail corridor had witnessed disruptions and security threats in the past, most notably the March 2022 terrorist attack that claimed several lives and led to the suspension of services.

Also, just last week, the Abuja-Kaduna train service experienced a technical scare linked to a hot axle.

The Kaduna-Abuja is one of Nigeria’s most critical rail lines, which serves thousands of passengers daily.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

How David Mark’s interview landed us in Abacha’s gulag– Yakubu Mohammed

How David Mark’s interview landed us in Abacha’s gulag– Yakubu Mohammed

By Kadiri Abdulrahman

A former Executive Editor of the defunct Newswatch magazine, Yakubu Mohammed, has recounted how a rare interview with Brig.-Gen. David Mark had put the magazine’s directors in trouble with late Gen. Sani Abacha.

Mohammed recalled the experience in his recently published memoir, “Beyond Expectations.”

According to him, after Abacha sacked the Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government (ING) on Nov. 17, 1993, his next move was to remove the so-called “Babangida Boys” in strategic positions in the military.

“That, ironically, included Gen. Aliu Gusau, his soulmate, who accompanied him to Shonekan’s office to ask for his voluntary disengagement.

“Another one was Brig.-Gen. David Mark, former military governor of Niger State and almost a constant feature in the Babangida adventure in government.

“Many of the retired officers were bitter about the treatment meted out to them by the new helmsman.

“But it was Mark who decided to spill the beans and expose the real motive of Abacha, ” Mohammed wrote.

He said that Abacha had initially given the impression that he sacked the ING to pave way for the installation of Chief M.K.O. Abiola as president or to conduct another presidential election.

Mohammed said that Mark granted the then editor-in-chief of Newswatch, Dan Agbese, an explosive interview in London where he had gone to stay after his forceful disengagement from the military.

“What Abacha did, according to Mark, was tantamount to a betrayal of hope.

“In the interview, he confirmed that indeed, there was a plan to hold a constitutional conference to prepare a new constitution.

”It was the idea of Gen. Oladipo Diya, next in command to Abacha,” he said.

The veteran journalist recalled that the impression that the removal of the ING was to pave the way for the swearing in of Abiola drew some pro-democracy politicians into Abacha’s cabinet.

He listed such politicians to include Abiola’s running mate in the 1993 presidential election, Babagana Kingibe, former Lagos State governor, Lateef Jakande and former Plateau governor, Solomon Lar.

“But David Mark said it was all a ruse.

“Instead of six months as planned, Mark was convinced that Abacha was determined to stay at least five years and, thereafter, transmute into a civilian president,’’ he said.

Mohammed said that a manhunt for the Newswatch editors, who had been declared wanted by the SSS, started after the interview was published on April 11, 1994.

He said that the SSS operatives had trailed him to Lokoja, the Kogi capital, where he had gone to keep an appointment with the military governor, Col. Paul Omeruo.

“While waiting to see the governor, something strange happened.

“Some plain-clothed officials gave me a piece of paper to write my name.

“I wondered if that was the alternative to a visitor’s form.

” But it turned out that they were SSS men wanting to confirm if I was the Yakubu Mohammed already declared wanted.

“On my way out of the governor’s office, I meet Chris Okolie, the late publisher of Newbreed magazine.

” He told me that security men had picked up Dan Agbese the previous evening,” he said.

Mohammed said that he was later arrested at the Kogi Government House and driven to Lagos.

He said that Ray Ekpu, who was in Calabar for his annual leave, was arrested at the airport while trying to board a flight to Lagos and driven to Lagos by road.

Mohammed recounted that the three editors were accommodated in one cell with one single double-decker bed.

“There was only one light bulb in the room, but the control switch was outside the room.

“The light was on throughout the night so that warders could check us any time they felt like doing so.

“If you could not sleep with lights on that was your own kettle of fish,” he said.

He said that interventions by media colleagues, the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria, the Guild of Editors, and elder statesmen led by Adamu Ciroma later got the listening ears of Abacha.

He said that Abacha promptly ordered their release with all charges bordering on sedition dropped.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Niger govt. spends N250m on women empowerment

Niger govt. spends N250m on women empowerment

By Rita Iliya

Niger government on Monday empowered no fewer than 2,500 women in Kontagora Local Government Area with N250 million as part of Gov. Umaru Bago’s women empowerment grant to boost their business.

Hajiya Hauwa Bako, Special Adviser to the governor on Social Investment Programme and Focal Person, National Social Investment Programmes, disbursed the grant to the beneficiaries on behalf of the governor.

Bako said that each of the beneficiaries received the N100,000 to improve their businesses.

She said that the aim was to support nano-businesses ran by women and promote community-driven development and inclusivity.

“The initiative prioritised women from diverse backgrounds, including Fulani women, women with disabilities, widows and low-income households.

“The approach ensures that the initiative reached a wide cross-section of women in Kontagora and environs,” she said.

Bako disclosed that the selection process involved traditional community, women and religious leaders to help identify deserving beneficiaries.

Some of the beneficiaries, Hadiza Bala and Larak Isah from Kawo Village, thanked the Niger government for the gesture.

The duo promised to use the money to invest in their existing businesses, saying the money would go a long way in improving their income and livelihoods.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

Dele Giwa’s assassination had nothing to do with Gloria Okon-Yakubu Muhammed

Dele Giwa’s assassination had nothing to do with Gloria Okon-Yakubu Muhammed

By Kadiri Abdulrahman

Veteran journalist and one of the founders of Nigeria’s first weekly news magazine, Newswatch, Yakubu Mohammed, says the assassination of Dele Giwa in 1986 had nothing to do with the late Gloria Okon.

Mohammed, who co-founded Newswatch with Giwa, Ray Ekpu and Dan Agbese in 1984, said this in his memoir, “Beyond Expectations.”

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Giwa, one of Nigeria’s most flamboyant journalists, was assassinated on Oct. 19, 1986, after a parcel bomb was delivered to his house in Lagos.

After the incident, the rumour mill was agog with the conspiracy theory that Giwa had a scoop on Okon who had been arrested at the Aminu Kano Airport for trafficking in drugs.

The said Okon was later reported dead by the authorities.

The rumour, however, persisted that she had been released secretly and was living large in London.

Mohammed wrote: “Was Dele Giwa doing a story on Gloria Okon? And did he interview her in London and the tapes of the interview along with pictures brought to Lagos by Kayode (Soyinka)?

“In discussing these theories, I am mindful of the fact that I am accountable to only God, my creator.”

He stressed that the magazine was not planning to do any story on Okon.

“Not by any of our reporters, not by any of the editors and not by any of the directors – Dele, Ray, Dan and Yakubu,” he said.

According to him, the Okon story idea was suggested by Bose Lasaki, a relatively new member of staff who was determined to learn the ropes, only to discover that it was a ruse.

“One day at the general editorial conference, she said she had a story idea.

“She muttered some words to the effect that there was a rumour that the drug courier that was arrested in Kano and reported dead did not die.

“Her colleagues laughed at her suggestion and she appeared visibly embarrassed. Dan who conducted the meeting advised her to do more work on the idea.

“When she reported back the following week, she admitted that there was nothing to the story. And that was the end of the story,” he said.

Mohammed said that Giwa and Ekpu were not in any of the editorial meetings and knew nothing about the Okon “fable”.

According to him, until the tragic death of Giwa, nobody heard anything again about Okon.

“But she came alive as possible reason why Dele Giwa was killed. Dele was said to have travelled to London some weeks before his death and interviewed Gloria Okon.

“The fact is that Dele Giwa did not meet any Gloria Okon on the trip in question.

”I know this for sure because I travelled with him to London,” he said.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Investigative journalists begin Governance Assessment Tour in Kaduna

Investigative journalists begin Governance Assessment Tour in Kaduna

By Ebere Agozie

The Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has begun the 2025 Governance Assessment Report (GAR) Tour in Kaduna State.

This is contained in a statement issued by the NGIJ President, Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, in Abuja on Monday.

The guild said the tour was a core component of its flagship GAR project, designed to independently evaluate government policies, infrastructural projects, social programmes and overall performance indicators.

The president said that 12 members of the guild, comprising investigative journalists and researchers from across Nigeria, would be in Kaduna for a one-week comprehensive exercise.

He said the assessment aligned with NGIJ’s mandate of deepening democratic culture, promoting transparency, and strengthening accountability.

“We will engage in a five-day intensive assessment covering all the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.

“The exercise will involve field investigations across key sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, agriculture, human capital development, women and youth empowerment, and job creation.

“We will administer structured questionnaires and conduct interviews with stakeholders to gather first-hand information on governance performance.”

He noted that the guild would also engage with critical stakeholders, including security agencies, political office holders, traditional rulers, labour leaders, and civil society groups.

“The guild will also engage representatives of political parties, and grassroots citizens, to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive assessment of Gov. Uba Sani’s administration.”

He added that the team would document flagship projects and publish daily field reports across national media platforms.

“At the conclusion of the tour, the guild will hold a press conference and present a comprehensive Governance Assessment Handbook, summarizing its findings, impacts, and policy recommendations.”

Aliagan noted that the Kaduna tour builds on the guild’s previous successful assessments conducted in Kogi, Kwara, Bayelsa, Ondo, and Osun states.

He sid in these states, NGIJ worked closely with state governments and stakeholders to ensure objectivity and credibility.

He, therefore, urged stakeholders to cooperate fully with guild members during the assessment to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

“We are not here to witch-hunt or politicize governance,” Aliagan stated.

“Our goal is to provide an independent, fact-based, and grassroots-oriented evaluation that amplifies the voices of the Kaduna residents while highlighting government achievements and challenges.

“The five-day exercise is expected to produce an in-depth Governance Assessment Handbook, which will serve as a reference document for policymakers, development partners, and the general public,” he said. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

Tinubu’s Brazil visit strategic for economy diversification — Presidency

Tinubu’s Brazil visit strategic for economy diversification — Presidency

‎By Muhyideen Jimoh

‎The Presidency has said that President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to Brazil is “strategic”, and a broader ambition to diversify and strengthen Nigeria’s economy through global partnerships.

It emphasised, that the visit is a potential game changer aimed at deepening ties with Latin America’s largest economy and a major BRICS member.

‎Mr Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Brasilia.

‎The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Tinubu is expected to arrive in Brazil on Monday for a two-day state visit at the invitation of President Lula da Silva.

Dare said that the visit has the potentials to accelerate Nigeria’s economic growth through targeted engagements in key sectors of the Nigerian economy.

‎”Yes, this is the third visit of President Tinubu to Brazil, and it is with a justifiable cause.

‎“It reflects a renewed and focused effort to build lasting economic integration between our countries.

“This is a journey that started 21 years ago under President Olusegun Obasanjo and has gained fresh momentum under President Tinubu,” he said

‎Dare noted that both countries shared similarities in demography, economy, and cultural affinity that make the visit timely and important.

‎He highlighted Brazil’s global leadership in mechanized agriculture, agribusiness, and renewable energy as key areas of interest for Nigeria.

‎“Brazil has a cattle herd of 238 million, even more than its human population.

‎“This success in agribusiness offers valuable lessons for us as we expand our livestock industry,” he said.

Dare noted that while previous visits centered around international summits like G20 and BRICS, the latest “marks a shift towards concrete bilateral agreements”.

‎“This third visit is a state visit, and it moves Nigeria from being a dialogue partner to actively cutting the necessary deals that will open up investments and strengthen cooperation.

‎“This visit is critical to opening the economic chapter of our relationship with Brazil.

‎“It’s about transforming historic and cultural ties into practical, mutually beneficial investments that will boost Nigeria’s growth and global standing,” he stressed

‎Dare added that the visit will strengthen cooperation in aviation, livestock, trade, and other strategic sectors.

‎NAN reports that this visit marks the second leg of President Tinubu’s two-nation tour, which began with his participation in the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

How friction with Abiola birthed Newswatch – Yakubu Mohammed

How friction with Abiola birthed Newswatch – Yakubu Mohammed

By Kadiri Abdulrahman

Veteran journalist, Yakubu Mohammed, says an unexplainable friction between late Chief MKO Abiola, the publisher of the defunct National Concord, and late Dele Giwa, Ray Ekpu and himself led to founding of Nigeria’s first weekly news magazine, Newswatch.

Mohammed, who together with Giwa, Ekpu and Dan Agbese founded Newswatch in 1984, said this in his memoir, “Beyond Expectations.”

He was the Editor of National Concord while Giwa was the Editor of Sunday Concord.

Ekpu was a member of the Editorial Board of the newspaper while Agbese was the Editor of the New Nigerian Newspaper.

According to Mohammed, Giwa’s famed iconoclastic journalism inevitably became a source of friction in his apparently cosy relationship with Abiola.

He wrote: “But was that the only source of friction? It was difficult for me to pinpoint what it was.

” All I can recall now was that there was a cold relationship.”

He recounted how the trio formed a team whose visibility and professional contribution was a positive development for National Concord.

“Out of office, we sometimes moved together and attended social events together.

“We became poster boys for the improved public image of Concord.

” That was when the famous Candido column of the New Nigerian referred to the trio of Dele, Ray and Yakubu as Benzy journalists wearing Gucci shoes, ” he said.

Mohammed also said that an in house fashion competition created by a staff writer, late May Ellen Ezekiel (MEE), also exacerbated the frosty relationship between Giwa and Abiola.

“While learning the ropes at Concord, she (MEE) introduced an occasional competition for best dressed men.

” It was open to the readers who usually voted for men who showed class and displayed sartorial taste.

“One of the installments grouped MKO and Dele together and Dele was rated higher than MKO.

” What the editor and his staff did was in bad taste. It was like committing incest.

“Why would you feature anybody connected with the newspaper in a contest it was organising? And of all persons, the editor and his publisher.

“This bad judgment did not sound funny to MKO who literally stormed my office to say that Dele’s cup was full,’ ‘ Mohammed said.

He said that the three of them were later queried by Abiola for an exclusive interview they had with Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the then military Head of State, in January 1984.

According to him, rather than a commendation from Abiola for the scoop, the three editors got “cold shoulders.”

“Unknown to us, the new military regime had fenced him off and the duo of Buhari and Idiagbon were not relating with him.

“When we returned from the interview and told the publisher of the warm reception General Buhari gave us, he was rather glum,” he said.

Mohammed said that Abiola was later pushed by some vested interests to issue the trio a query, preceded by an anonymous letter describing them as “stranger elements.”

He said that the unending friction motivated them to start seeking investors for a weekly news magazine to be fashioned after Time and Newsweek magazines.

He listed some of the early investors in the Newswatch project to include businessman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilyaminu Yusuf, late Chief Alex Akinyele, Nuhu Aruwa, Ime Umanah, Abdulaziz Ude and Mike Adenuga among others. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

Tinubu committed to women development – First Lady

Tinubu committed to women development – First Lady

By Oluwatope Lawanson/Celine-Damilola Oyewole

The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu,  says the administration of President Bola Tinubu is committed to empowering women economically  to achieve Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs).

The first lady said this on Saturday in Lagos at the official flag-off of  Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in South-West Geo-political Zone and presentation of RHI/SDGs empowerment items to 1,000 women in the zone.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the empowerment programme was a collaborative effort of RHI and the Office of the Senior Special Assistance to the President on Sustainable Development Goals.

The empowerment programme is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at lifting 18,500 women accross the nation out of poverty.

The RHI, a humanitarian programme of the first lady, was aimed to complement President Bola Tinubu’s agenda for every citizen to benefit directly from government programmes.

The first lady said that 500 pre-selected women  in Lagos State and other South-West states would be provided with items such as deep-chest freezers, maxi gas cookers with ovens, power generators, and industrial grinding machines.

“The items being distributed today are to equip our women with the necessary tools and resources they need to build successful businesses and to contribute to the prosperity of our great nation.

“These items will be distributed by state first ladies/RHI state coordinators in the South-West Zone,” she said.

The first lady said that the tools were given to support the women in starting or growing their existing businesses.

“To the beneficiaries, I encourage you to use these resources judiciously to grow your businesses.

“Let these items serve as a foundation for creating a better life for yourselves and your families,” the first lady said.

She praised Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting the programme with  additional 500 empowerment items, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in Lagos State to 1,000.

“I commend Mr Governor for this gesture and his commitment to the growth and development of women in Lagos State.

“In recognition of the critical role women play in nation-building, this programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, which prioritises inclusivity, economic growth and sustainable development for all Nigerians, particularly women.

“Empowerment of women in all spheres of life is central to achieving all the SDGs, especially SDG-5  – achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls –  and SDG-8  – achieving decent work and economic growth –  which are all relevant to the purpose of this gathering,” she said.

She also commended the Senior Special Adviser to the President on SDGs, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, for her support.

Earlier, Orelope-Adefulire charged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the empowerment items.

According to her, the initiative, which is part of President Bola Tinubu’s agenda, aims to empower women and promote economic transformation across the country.

She said: “The programme is not just about distributing items. It is about unlocking potential, fostering economic independence and creating opportunities for women to thrive.”

She emphasised that economic empowerment of women was a crucial driver for gender equality, poverty reduction and sustainable development.

“The empowerment items, which include gas cookers, generators, deep freezers and grinding machines, are designed to equip women with the tools they need to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to national development,” she said.

Orelope-Adefulire thaned Sen. Oluremi Tinubu for her initiative and leadership in improving the lives of women, men, youths and underserved communities across the 36 states of Nigeria.

She also thanked the Lagos State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative and the wife of the Governor of Lagos State for support.

Orelope-Adefulire also thanked Lagos State Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for thoughtful initiatives that complemented the Federal Government’s programme, projects and policies.

“We thank you for additional support of 500 equipment to the initiative.

“I encourage the beneficiaries to make the best of the opportunity.

“Let this empowerment material serve as a stepping stone towards financial independence for youth, business development and sustainable livelihood.

“When a woman is empowered, a woman is able to build, the community is strengthened, and the nation prospers.”

In his remarks,  Sanwo-Olu described the programme as historic and a powerful testament of compassion.

“This gesture is a testament of leadership and unwavering belief that when we lift a woman, we lift families, we lift communities and, indeed, we lift an entire nation.

“Your Excellency, our mother, our beloved first lady, words are certainly not enough to capture the depths of our gratitude that we feel toward you for your timeless commitment to the empowerment of women across our nation.

“We have watched you, we have heard your voice, your voice of courage, you have been a pillar of strength and a beacon of hope for women and children.

“This ceremony which is the empowerment of 1,000 women is far more than the distribution of support.  It is sowing the seed that will grow into forests of possibility.”(NAN)

Mokwa flood victims allege exclusion from N1bn relief package

Mokwa flood victims allege exclusion from N1bn relief package

By Rita Iliya

Some victims of the recent flood in Mokwa, Niger, have alleged exclusion from the N1 billion state government compensation.

The victims makes the allegations in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Mokwa on Saturday.

NAN recalls that Gov. Umaru Bago had in June approved N1 billion to support victims of the Mokwa flood, saying 458 affected households will receive N1 million each and 25 bags of grains including 10 bags of rice, 5 bags of maize, 5 bags of sorghum and 5 bags of millet.

Bago said the next of kins of the 209 deceased victims would receive N1 million while 280 house and shop owners would receive N500,000 for reconstruction.

However, after the distribution of the relief, some victims of the disaster alleged irregularities in the distribution process, saying not all affected persons received the compensation.

Farida Abubakar, a victim, said she lost her mother, who was the breadwinner of their family, during the flood.

She alleged she was told by the Mokwa Flood Relief Distribution Committee that she do not have a husband as such would not benefit.

“When they were writing names of people who lost their loved ones, I went for my name to be captured, I was told I don’t have a husband, so I was not qualified to benefit.

“I have three other younger siblings, we have been feeding from hands to mouth, we have been sleeping in Tiffin-Maza primary school because I don’t have money to rent house for us to live,” she said.

Another victim, Yusuf Isah, a 74-year-old, said he constructed a hut to live with his wife and eight children after they lost their rented apartment to the flood.

“When the flood came, it washed away all our belongings, the landlord of the house collected N1 million for the household and N500,000 for the house owner, but refused to share the money with me.

“The landlord only gave me three bags of grains out of the 25 bags given to her,” he said.

Also speaking, Hussaina Zakari, another victim, said she lost all her belongings to the flood while she was away for the burial of her father.

“I lost my father before the flood, I was away for his burial when I was called that flood had washed away my property, after I returned, the only support I got was grains.

“I never benefited from any cash assistance, I have been living in an IDP camp with my three children and younger ones.

“NGOs have been of great assistance to us providing us with food and other essential items,” she said.

Another victim, Farida Isiaku, said she lost her six children, co-wife and her three children also including her husband during the flood, saying she survived the disaster with the help of neighbours and was taken to the hospital in Bida.

She confirmed receiving N12 million compensation from the state government, saying she used part of the money to rent a house and share the rest among her husband’s family and co-wife’s family.

Alhaji Tanko Bala, Sarkin Hausawa in Mokwa, said the most affected people in the flood were Hausa people and commended the efforts of the state government for supporting victims with relief materials and cash.

He confirmed that some affected victims were yet to be compensated, alleging that there were mistakes in the compensation process.

“Some households that were supposed to benefit N1 million got N1. 5 million instead and house owners that were supposed to get N500,000 got N1.5 million.”

Also speaking, Dauda Liman, Chairman of Mokwa Flood Relief Distribution Committee and Secretary of the Council, said the relief distribution was done in three batches.

He said that the victims who were yet to be compensated were those who left to other communities after the flood due to trauma, but later returned when they heard of the relief distribution.

He called on the state government to deliver the remaining 20 trucks of grains out of the 50 truck promised by the governor for onward distribution to the remaining victims.

Responding, Alhaji Salihu Garba, Director, Relief and Rehabilitation, Niger state Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), said the agency synergised with community-based organisation to identify victims and distribute the relief materials.

“We relied on the information and data generated by them because our search and rescue operations were carried out jointly with them.

“We are aware that some victims were not captured, and that’s why we opened a complaint desk,” he said.

He noted that due to the magnitude and destructive nature of the disaster, it was not possible to capture every victim at the same time.

According to him, some were around when the capturing was ongoing but they were too traumatised to come forward, while others left the vicinity to other communities while the assessment was done.

Garba said the agency was aware of the challenges and would address it, saying a report on the intervention would be done to the governor with recommendations.

The director said 30 trucks of relief materials have already been delivered and the agency has successfully completed the assignment of distributing cash to order forms of assistance to households, victims of death and those whose houses were destroyed.

He commended the efforts of the Mokwa Youth Forum, Ja’maatul Islam, Christian Association of Nigeria, Ndalile of Mokwa and the Sarkin Hausawa for their assistance in identifying victims.
