The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has called on the business community to embrace tax reforms to strengthen economic growth and improve the business environment.
Chief Emeka Obegolu, the President of ACCI, made the call in his Easter message, by Mrs Olayemi John-Mensah, its Media and Strategy Officer, on Sunday in Abuja.
Obegolu urged entrepreneurs, investors and corporate leaders to adhere to the new tax laws, noting that compliance will significantly benefit the nation’s economic development.
“Adherence to these reforms will be to the benefit of our dear country.
“The new tax framework has the potential to eliminate multiple taxation, enhance transparency, and create a more harmonised and business-friendly environment.”
He acknowledged the prevailing challenges faced by businesses, including economic uncertainties, infrastructural deficits, and regulatory pressures, adding that such could affect economic growth.
The ACCI president described Easter as a season that symbolised renewal, resilience, and opportunity.
According to him, Easter represents new beginnings.
“It reminds us of the power of perseverance and the importance of unity in the face of adversity.
“As business leaders, we must continue to innovate, collaborate, and advocate for policies that support a sustainable and inclusive economy,” he said.
Obegolu emphasised the need for sustained engagement between government and the private sector.
He said that the success of ongoing reforms depended on effective collaboration, communication and coordination.
He also highlighted the importance of capacity building and awareness initiatives, particularly for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to ensure seamless adoption of the new tax regime.
“The ACCI has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians and the wider business community in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs, calling for renewed commitment to economic growth and reform.
“As the voice of the organised private sector in the FCT, ACCI reaffirms its commitment to promoting policies that enhance the ease of doing business and drive economic growth.
“The ACCI is wishing all Nigerians, particularly members and partners of the chamber, a peaceful, joyful and prosperous Easter celebration,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
