Lagos, March 13, 2026 (NAN) The Tunji Olowolafe Foundation has unveiled a N1 billion initiative aimed at sponsoring 1,000 Nigerian students at Miva Open University over a five-year period.
The initiative, tagged “Gbemisola Olowolafe Miva Scholarship”, was launched by Mr Tunji Olowolafe, Chairman of Deux Project Ltd. and founder of the foundation, in memory of his late wife, commemorating her first anniversary.
Olowolafe, in a statement on Friday in Lagos, said that the initiative was inspired by his late wife’s passion for education and her dedication to empowering others to succeed.
According to him, the fully funded scholarship will cover the complete tuition of 1,000 beneficiaries enrolled at Miva Open University.
He noted that this would address financial hurdles that typically hinder talented Nigerians from pursuing quality higher education.
According to him, the scholarship reflects the values his late wife embodied, particularly her conviction that education remains the greatest equaliser in society.
“Gbemisola believed that education was the ultimate equaliser, a tool that should be accessible to all, regardless of financial background.
“By removing tuition barriers for 1,000 aspiring leaders, we are ensuring that her legacy of kindness, excellence and service lives on in the success stories of others,” he said.
Olowolafe encouraged students with ambition but limited financial resources to apply for the scholarship.
“To the dreamers, innovators and hardworking students of Nigeria; if you have the drive and ambition but lack the means, this opportunity is for you.
“Applications are now open. I encourage you to apply and take the first step toward a future of unlimited possibilities,” he said.
Olowolafe noted that the initiative aligned with its broader mission of promoting education, empowerment and community development in Nigeria through programmes that create long-term impact.
