The Kwara South Development Initiative (KSDI) says it is partnering with government and other critical stakeholders to tackle insecurity in the senatorial district.

The organisation, in its “message of hope,” to the people of the district on Thursday in Ilorin acknowledged that the region faced unprecedented security challenges in 2025.

The organisation’s message was signed by its convener, Dr Johnson Adewumi.

Adewumi, a foremost educationist, is also the Asiwaju of Oko Irese in Kwara.

KSDI said in its message that it rose to the occasion by partnering with the government to confront the security challenges in the area.

“KSDI Convener co-chairs a security committee whose membership is drawn from the traditional rulers council, government and security outfits.

“The organisation raised and still raises money to prosecute the security mandate of the committee,” it said.

The organisation also commended the three tiers of government for their impactful interventions.

It also lauded Gov AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara for what it called his unwavering commitment to stemming the tide of insecurity in the state.

While expressing gratitude to traditional rulers in the district for endorsing new initiatives being promoted by KSDI, it pledged to work with them in the interest of the people.

It reiterated its commitment to promoting unity and socio-economic development in Kwara South Senatorial District.

The organisation said it successfully organised sensitisation and mobilisation activities on its declared mandate.

KSDI said it had organised five well attended summits since its inception.

According to it, two were organised in Oko in 2022 and 2023, one in Abuja in 2024 and two in 2025 in Lagos and Ilorin.

Reflecting on 2025, the organisation said the year was a watershed in many ways.

“The year consummated the vision of KSDI and accelerated the programmes and the agenda of the organisation.

” May this year be filled with boundless opportunities, peace, and collective progress,” it said.

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, KSDI challenged the electorate to elect qualified people who would be accountable.

” We must organise and mobilise for the INEC registration and for the polls.

” We must also negotiate with other senatorial districts to get what we desire and deserve,” he said. (NAN)
