NAN journalists mourn ex-judiciary correspondent, Moji Eniola (Page 437)

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Lagos Chapel, has been plunged into mourning by the death of its member and former NAN judiciary correspondent, Ms Mojirola Eniola.

Eniola, aged 40, died on Sunday in Abuja during an illness.

She was an Assistant Chief Legal Officer at NAN until death.

Her colleagues described her death as sudden, distressing and heartbreaking.

In a condolence message jointly signed by the Chairman of the chapel, Comrade Yusuf Yunus, and Secretary, Comrade Adeyemi Adeleye, the union said her death brought sorrow to the entire NAN family.

The union described Eniola, a Barrister at Law, as a warm, brilliant, bold, humble and focused colleague whose humane disposition and professional excellence were admired by all who worked with her.

“Moji was not only a consummate journalist, but also a dependable friend and a devoted comrade.

“Her passing has created a vacuum that will not be easily filled,” the union said.

According to the chapel, Eniola served meritoriously as a judiciary correspondent in Lagos and distinguished herself through uncommon dedication and excellence.

The union noted that she excelled in every assignment entrusted to her and remained humble, supportive and committed.

The chapel prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul and asked God to comfort her family, her colleagues and friends.

Eniola, born on March 11, 1985, was employed into the service of the News Agency of Nigeria on July 30, 2013.

She hailed from Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi.

In her honour, a minute of silence was observed and a special congregational prayer session was held during an editorial meeting of journalists in Lagos.

At the meeting, staffers, including the Acting Head of Lagos Office, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, and Eniola’s former Supervisor, Mrs Ijeoma Popoola, expressed sadness at Eniola’s death.

The usual review of news expectations from various desks could not hold at the meeting because of the death. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
