The Lagos State government says 698 residents of the state will be selected through ballot to acquire homes in its various housing estates.

The Commissioner for Housing, Mr Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, said this during the 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing to mark the first year of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term in office on Thursday at Alausa, Ikeja.

He further said selected workers would be entitled to 40 per cent rebate in their service lifetime.

“In order to promote transparency in home unit allocation, the state government will henceforth allocate some of its homes through ballot.

“The process will be observed by independent observers to ensure transparency and fairness.

“Some of the locations are: Idale (Badagry Division) and LagosHOM Odo-Onosa/Ayandelu (Epe-Division) come June 4,” the commissioner said.

He added that the Lagos State Mortgage Board had complied a list of applicants for home unit allocation.

“Within various schemes, we have pre-qualified 950 applicants for home unit allocation. We also have 400 applicants for LagosHOMS, Ajara, Badagry, 450 for LagosHS, Odo-Onosa/Ayandelu.

“We have 100 for Lagos State public affordable housing scheme, Idale Badagry,” Akinderu-Fatai said.

The commissioner also said the ministry was able to engage over 8,000 skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled residents of Lagos.

“In August 2023, the ministry trained additional 200 artisans under its Master Craftsman Training Programme. The six weeks programme was organised in collaboration with a consultant.

“The courses were: plumbing and pipe works, masonry, painting, decoration, carpentry and furniture making and electrical installations,” he said.

Akinderu-Fatai said the ministry had to deal with challenges such as encroachment on state owned land and housing projects, litigations, slow pace of work by joint venture partners and the current inflation trend.

“But we have been able to settle most litigations through Alternative Dispute Resolution and strategies to curb delays.

“We will encourage the use of local products, we’re leaveraging on various relationships with the academia and professional bodies to support researches into cheaper and alternative building technology,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews)

We must be guided by ethics in adopting Artificial Intelligence – CBCN

We must be guided by ethics in adopting Artificial Intelligence – CBCN

By Philomina Attah

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) says the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (Al) must be guided ethical principles, in spite of its enormous benefits.

The President, CBCN, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji said this in Abuja at the Maiden Communication Week (COMWEEK) Public Lecture by Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN).

The theme of the lecture was ” Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities for Evangelisation and Social Development.’’

” Artificial intelligence is a subject of debate and labelling it as artificial suggests a replication or limitation, as it is derived from human intelligence.”

Ugorji, also the Archbishop of Owerri, said that in spite of its versatility and technological prowess, the AI remained a facsimile of the original, namely human cognition

“AI is a term born from advances in computer science and digital technology. It endows machines with the capacity for intelligent behaviour through sophisticated algorithms.

“Today, computers can perform tasks traditionally requiring human intelligence, such as understanding natural language, recognising patterns, learning from data, and making decisions.

“This has turned out to be a cause for joy and a reason for worry at the same time.

“It is a thing of joy because of the enormous positive possibilities as a result of the digital technology and worrisome because of the grave life-defining dangers they pose at the same time,” he said.

” We must strive for a balance that prioritises human welfare alongside technological progress, being mindful of ethical and moral dilemmas as well as risks such as job displacement.”

He said that the church had ceaselessly emphasised that collaboration between Al experts and social development practitioners was crucial.

According to him, Al could significantly contribute to the common good of the people.

“At this gathering, we hope to learn from experts the responsible and ethical use of Al not only to benefit the society but also to support the Church’s evangelisation efforts.”

He said that the Al should be a tool for empowerment and progress and not a source of division or destruction.

He said that the CBCN plans to create a forum for experts to discuss issues concerning not only the church and its mission but also the broader welfare of the society.

The Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, said the position of the Pope had been in line with the constant magisterium of the church.

He said that all scientific progress was gift from God to humanity and to be used for human well-being to the glory of God.

“The latest in the world today is bringing out machines that try to imitate human thinking. We don’t know how far developments in this regard will go.

“But the warning of Pope Francis remains valid: that it is not everything that we can do that we should do. Even scientific progress must be subject to human, moral, and ethical control.

“This is a responsibility that humanity abdicates at its great peril,” he said.

Rev. Fr. Anthony Akinwale, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University, Ilara-Epe, Lagos, said that artificial was not intelligence because it lacked self-determination.

“My argument so far has been, if it is intelligent, it is not artificial and if it is artificial, it is not intelligent.

“Artificial intelligence is not intelligent because of its privation of self-consciousness and self-volition. That raises a question: Where does this lead us?

“The submission in the preceding section of this paper neither diminishes nor denies the astounding accomplishment of science and technology in the area of computational informatics.

“It only serves to call attention to a misnomer conventionally taken for granted. This misnomer, if ignored, will have, and in fact, already having precautions in the arena of ethics in which we human beings find ourselves, the arena of inter-relationship.

“The pertinence of these remarks stems from the fact that artificial intelligence is a tool and not a substitute for the human person,” he said.

He, however, added that the technology could be used properly if well understood because communication was not just about dissemination of information. (NAN)

We will deal squarely with land grabbers – Wike

We will deal squarely with land grabbers – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, says the FCT Administration will deal squarely with land grabbers, no matter how highly- placed.

Wike gave the warning when officials of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), FCT Chapter, visited him in Abuja on Thursday.

“Land grabbing is not new. Some of your people are part of it, some staff of FCT are part of it.

“As a government, we will do all we can to see that we deal squarely with anybody that is involved, no matter how highly- placed he or she might be.

“It is  a terrible situation we found ourselves in. People grabbing land; people illegally acquiring land, just for the purpose of becoming rich overnight,” the minister said.

He pointed out that everyday ,people write  the FCTA, demanding for land allocation to develop a certain number of houses in the city.

He, however, said that many people were doing that just to obtain a land title and at the end of the day, nothing was developed.

“They will do all they can; take our land and sell it to people for development.

“For me, that is not helping us to reduce the housing deficit, no. That is just a way of taking government land and enriching yourselves at the expense of the government,” he said.

The minister added, “Yes government cannot sell land, so why will the government give out land for the purpose of housing estate and then you are selling the land?

“The government can as well sell the land itself if that is the case.”

Wike said that to address the challenge, the FCTA had decided that developers must show financial capacity before land would be allocated to them in FCT.

He added that a reputable commercial bank must also write an undertaking that the developer has the financial capacity for such development.

“Two, you will write an undertaking that the project will commence and be completed within a specified time without any condition attached to it.

“Three, that failure to develop the land, the government is entitled to take back its land. It does not matter what form of development you are putting there.

“If that is done, then we will be convinced and give you our land allocation with proper documentation,” he said.

He said that the  measures were necessary to ensure that developers do not steal from the government in the name of development.

The minister said that there were currently over 1000 litigations in different courts over land matters, with kore being recorded on daily basis.

The minister also berated real estate developers for not meeting up to their obligations to the government, particularly in the payment of taxes relating to land.

“Even when you sell your properties, you don’t remit part of which belongs to the government.

“So, I want to partner with you but on good faith, not partnership that one party would be detrimental to the other, no. It has to be mutual and symbiotic,” Wike said.

Earlier, REDAN Chairman, Dr Ehikioya Okoruwa, assured Wike of the association’s readiness to partner the FCTA to bridge housing deficits in the territory.

Okoruwa said that to that end, the association planned to build 15,000 houses.

He further said that REDAN would invest N262 billion in the housing sector, adding that the FCTA would gain a lot  if they supported the project.

Okoruwa  said that REDAN was working with security agencies to address land racketeering, emphasising the association’s commitment to ethical practices and accountability.

“This meeting sets the stage for a potential partnership between the FCT Administration and REDAN, but with clear terms and expectations for accountability and transparency,” he said. (NAN)

FHA seeks partnership with FMBN to deliver affordable housing

FHA seeks partnership with FMBN to deliver affordable housing

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA), has sought the partnership of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to deliver affordable housing to Nigerians in the bid to address the spiralling housing deficit.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive of FHA, Oyetunde Ojo, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FMBN, Shehu Osidi in Abuja.
According to Ojo, there has been a very good relationship between FHA and FMBN, adding, ”it is obviously so because of FHA’s mandate to build houses and FMBN’s mandate to make finance available.
“Our job at FHA  is to look for land and to build for Nigerians. We are very happy that since the inception of these two,  FHA and FMBN, we have  been on good terms,  so we are going to see a good synergy  for a better Nigeria.
“Let us come together. See us as partners in progress that wants a good development for Nigeria and for both of us to carry the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr  President Bola Tinubu in the area of delivering houses for people.
“However, it is not just about delivering houses. It is also about delivering affordable houses, for Nigerians to live in and in doing that, a lot is involved.’’
Ojo said that social housing could only be provided with government funds.
He, however, said the best way for FHA to go since it has been out of  appropriation since 2002 was to leverage other means to deliver affordable housing, thus the meeting with FMBN.
Ojo said that the management of FHA had been to 23 states so far in the quest to provide affordable housing for Nigerians  and the good thing was that governors had made some promises of free lands.
He said, ”Once the state governments give FHA the off-takers(lands) , part of the requirement was to have a mortgage bank to stand for the off takers.
”But that is yet to happen and that was what initiated the meeting with FMBN.”
Ojo urged FMBN to support FHA, adding, “I have checked through history and seen that we have been making loan repayments and we have also ensured that our books are opened between us and FMBN.
“In doing so, we are here to ask for more because very shortly Nigerians will soon enjoy a housing revolution, but we need your  support critically to make these things happen in line with the president’s mandate.
“It is not about FHA nor FMBN, see it that it is about Nigerians and our collaboration and partnership will be able to go a long way.
“ I can assure you that the lands are available all over the country as we speak  in 22 states already not application given,  minimum of 50 hectares some 100 some 150  what is needed is finance for development .’’
Responding, the CEO of FMBN, Shehu Osidi, commended the FHA team for the initiative, adding that a collaboration between the duo was the best thing that can happen to the housing sector in Nigeria .
He said, “FHA as an institution has the largest land bank in this country and the FMBN  is the only institution in this country that can also offer mortgages in single digit.
“That means it is a synergy that nobody can beat and that strategically places our two organisations on the front burner and the best that we can do is to collaborate to pursue the same objective. ‘’
Osidi said that the FMBN would continue to provide mortgages in order to actualise the vision of the president in the housing sector.
He said that the FMBN was making an effort to complete all its outstanding housing estates located in different parts of the country and ensure they are taken.
Osidi added, “Going forward ,we are introducing a lot of professionalism and diligence in the identification of locations for our new projects.
“The profiling  and selection  of potential off takers to ensure that only those with ability and capacity to repay their mortgage loans are offered mortgages  is key.
“We are creating easy access to our various products and our processes will be seamless for people to get their mortgages approved and get houses .’’
Osidi welcomed the partnership and commended the FHA mortgage for not owing and always on track to deliver its mandate on time (NAN)

Agency seeks Interior Ministry’s support to address border communities challenges

Agency seeks Interior Ministry’s support to address border communities challenges

By Yahaya Isah

The Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA),  has solicited the support of the Ministry of Interior to address challenges facing residents of   border communities in the country.

The Executive Secretary of the agency, Mr George Kelly, made the call during a courtesy visit on the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in Abuja.

Kelly said that having taken a critical look at the agency’s core mandate, there was no way the agency could succeed without the support of critical stakeholders like the Interior Ministry.

“That is one of the major reasons why we are here. The agency was created to accelerate developmental projects and cater for the needs of the border community dwellers.

“As you all know, in Nigeria, we have over 3,000 of them, spread across 21 states of the country and across 105 Local Government Areas.

“We are not also unaware of the fact that we have about 86 official land borders and 14 sea border control posts in Nigeria.

“But as much as we have border control posts, we must always be aware of the fact that we also have a lot of ungoverned spaces.

“These  spaces not just in Nigeria alone, we have in sub-saharan Africa and these are like the inlet for banditry. It is like the access point for insurgents.

“Therefore, government presence has to be felt, not just in border communities but also in ungoverned spaces.

“Our mandate is to fast track the basic amenities, infrastructure, the socio-economic welfare and wellbeing of these people.”

He decried the negligence of these people who happened to be found around the fringes of the circumference of the country over the years.

Kelly explained that most of them do not have access to basic amenities, such as water, healthcare centres, schools among others.

“They depend mostly on neighbouring communities from the neighbouring countries for survival.

“Their case is very bad. For me, I don’t see myself as somebody from the River extraction right now, but I see myself as an ambassador of the border communities.”

The Executive Secretary promised to do his best possible to ensure that succor comes to them for their survival.

“For instance, about two weeks ago, we got an urgent message from Ogun , particularly from the Asa community and other neighbouring communities of people dying in numbers.

“So, we had to intervene speedily. I immediately sent a team to find out what was the cause.

“Only for them to find out that it was due to a cholera outbreak. This is because they depend solely on pond water for survival due to non availability of pipe borne water nor borehole.

“We understand that they even trek several kilometres to the neighbouring community just to get water for survival,” he added.

He expressed optimism that with a healthy collaboration with the Interior Ministry, especially as the custodian of internal security of the country, it would go a long way to ensure at least their security.

Kelly also solicited for the ministry’s support in terms of provision of basic amenities to alleviate their suffering.

In his remarks, the minister promised to give the necessary support to the agency to enable it carry out its core mandate of making life easy for the border community dwellers.

Tunji-Ojo expressed displeasure that the agency had been a victim of politics for too long a time by the previous administrations for failure to place it where it should be.

“We have forgotten that every time you play politics with the agency, you are risking the lives of millions of people.

“Nigeria is a country that cares about its people. Nigeria is a country built on optimism, hope and rendering people in border communities hopeless obviously is not who we are.

“So, to me, your task at the agency is very key, not just in terms of infrastructure as people view it, to me, I can view the agency from the security angle.

“This is because they are the first line, I mean the first people around our borders. If there is any external aggression, they are the first line of defence that we have.

“They are also the first reliable intelligence report we get about our country, not even our intelligence agencies.

“For instance, go to other countries like the U.S. they spend more money developing their border communities even with Mexico.

“Reason being that, you need the buy-in of your own people, you cannot protect people that do not want to be protected.

“So, we must end the loyalty of our border community to other countries.

“If we fail as a country to cater for our people that dwell at our borders, chances are that they will give their loyalty to the neighbouring countries that cater for them,”he said. (NAN)

Dangote Cement offers free Malaria treatment In Edo

The Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) on Thursday began its malaria intervention programme for host communities at Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

Group Head of Sustainability, DCP, Dr Igazeuma Okoroba, said the campaign was in commemoration of the World Malaria Day and to advance the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 of the UN.

“As we observe, a significant portion of the population lacks access to vital healthcare services. Dangote Cement PLC aims to bridge this gap by addressing disparities in our host communities.

“We believe that healthy people are the foundation for healthy economies, and for this reason, countries are taking decisive actions to counteract health challenges. Our target for this campaign is Edo State.

“According to the United Nations, efforts to combat infectious diseases like HIV, TB and malaria improved between 2000 and 2015; however, progress has since slowed,” she said.

According to her, Dangote Cement’s response to this situation is to join the world in “accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world.”

She said that the event was aimed at engaging the communities, make health accessible and addressing malaria risk factors as well as the company CSR programme.

While calling on the people to participate actively in the two-day activities, she commended the Edo state Ministry of Health and partners for their collaboration in making this programme successful.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Coordinator Sustainability DCP, Okpella, Sunday Adondua, said the programme was aimed at reducing incidence of malaria to as low as possible in the company’s host communities.

Adodua, a General Manager, Training and Development, added: “If the people use what we gave them in terms of drugs and mosquitos nets, we will chase malaria out of the communities.

“The essence of this programme is to make life more meaningful for the people of our host communities who are vulnerable in terms of finance and resources endowment to afford good medical establishments for treatment.

“So, we are bringing the treatment to them right in their homes. We want to reach as many people as possible, we start today, and it is continuing tomorrow. So those who heard the news of today’s event will come tomorrow. Even if 2,000, 5000 and 10,000 people visit us, they will get treatment.

“Dangote has a robust CSR programme for host communities, we have been doing this every year. Last year we have our sustainability week and at Okpella community we established a library with 10 laptops and internet connectivity for the community. The donation would be done next week.”

Speaking, Mr Victor Ojeifo, Director Community Health Service, in charge of Malaria Elimination Programme, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Etsako East Local Government Area, commended Dangote Cement for the medical outreach.

“This is what we have been expecting to see when we preach to nongovernmental organization to try to attend to the vulnerable who can’t afford to buy drugs.

He called on communities to complement the Dangote programme by clearing bushes and stagnant water in their areas as part of efforts in eradicating malaria.

A beneficiary, Mrs Adiza Aliu, who was treated, said the programme has given her the opportunity to attend to her health without spending money.

“I was diagnosed of malaria. They gave me drugs and mosquito net. They asked me to be sleeping under the net to prevent malaria. Look at the drugs they gave me. I didn’t pay any money.”

Another beneficiary, Innocent Valetina, Dangote is God-sent to alleviate their suffering concerning health challenges.

“Drugs are expensive and not everybody can afford drug now but with this programme, we got free test, drugs and mosquito nets for ourselves and children. God should continue to bless Dangote.

On her part. Mrs Adiza Sedu, said she was happy to be among the beneficiaries of the free malaria treatment.

She added: “I was screened, I don’t have malaria, but they said my blood pressure is high. They gave me drugs and mosquito net and advise me to always go to the health centre to check.”(NAN)

Jailbreak: FG to fortify correctional centres-Interior Minister

Jailbreak: FG to fortify correctional centres-Interior Minister

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment toward fortifying the nation’s correctional centres against any external attack.

The minister, who made this known during an inspection tour of Kuje Correctional Centre on Thursday in Abuja, stated that it was the resolve of the present administration to prioritise the fortification to forestall jailbreaks.

Tunji-Ojo expressed delight about the ongoing rehabilitation work at the centre, which he described as a mark of seriousness on the part of any determined and serious government.

“Compared to the last time when we came here and compare it with what is on ground now, no doubt it will go a long way to forestall any nature of external attack on this facility.

“As you can see, the perimeter fencing is completed as well as the solar fittings on both sides of the fence to illuminate the facility for additional security.

“So, basically, it’s not just about Kuje alone but it will be replicated to other correctional centres across the country.

“Recall that in 2022 when this centre was attacked, everybody acknowledged the extent of the damage to our pride as Nigerians.

“So, when we came on board, and since the former administration had already conceived the idea of fortifying the nation’s correctional centres, we immediately prioritised it.

According to him, with President Bola Tinubu’s intervention fund, it enables us to achieve this feat so far. As you can see, am happy to tell you that about nine of our correctional centres are under rehabilitation right now.

He expressed optimism that in no distant time, Kuje correctional centre would witness a complete turnaround that would be a model to others.

“This is a pointer to the fact that the President cares about the security of Nigerians, about the inmates and making correctional centres correctional in nature and not condemnation centres.

In a similar development, the minister, who also took a tour of the Federal Fire Service (FFS) Academy, promised to build the best and the most sophisticated fire academy in West Africa.

This, he said, was to enable the service give the best training to its personnel to meet with the ever changing dynamics in fire fighting globally.

“By the grace of God, on May 28, we will be having the ground breaking ceremony here with the completion period of just one year to be delivered.

“We are bringing down lots of projects here and we are erecting modern fire academy that can be compared to the best you can get anywhere in the world.

“As I always say, fire service is not just a profession or choice; it’s a mandatory profession that we must all encourage in our society.

“This is because; the first priority of any government is to secure lives and property of its citizens. And you know one of the biggest threats to security of lives and property is fire.

“Obviously, fire service is not just about fire, is about rescue service being the first render in case of any emergency,“he stressed.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

Protest

By Philip Yatai

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has cautioned traders in Apo Mechanic Village against arbitrary protests without following due process.

Wike gave the warning while responding to the traders, who besieged the entrance of the FCT Administration Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.

The traders had explained that the protest was to push the minister to sign the 2015 lease agreement with the FCTA to enable them to move to their permanent site at Wassa District.

Wike, who described the action as attempted intimidation, berated the protesting traders for not writing to his office to discuss the delay in implementing the lease agreement.

The minister said that there was no basis for the protest, alleging it might have been sponsored by unknown persons.

“Is this the way you support the government by barricading the road and obstruction of traffic without informing me of anything?

“You never wrote to me that you want to see me, and we refuse to see you.

Then what you will do is to wake up in the morning, barricade the road, barricade the gate and then you are saying you are supporting me?

“Then I don’t need your support.

“What I don’t like is intimidation. If you have a problem, channel your problem to me and if I don’t solve it, then you can take another step,” the visibly furious minister said.

Wike pointed out that the lease agreement was entered into in 2015, adding that ministers have come and gone without the traders taking any step until now.

He asked the traders to go back and follow the due process to solve the problem.

“What you should do is write that you want to see me, then we will sit down and talk. I am not one of those ones anyone will come and intimidate.

“Barricading the road is what I don’t like. People coming to tarnish the image of government is not right when we can sit and dialogue.

“If the government had promised to give you land then I will look at the papers,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the traders’ association, Mr Chimezie Ife, said his members were tired of waiting since 2006 to be allocated their permanent business environment, alleging that they have spent over N100 million.

Ife explained the old Apo Mechanic Village was demolished in 2006, adding that the traders were promised a permanent location which never came.

He further said that the traders applied for land in 2011 but it was still not allocated despite the incurred expenses.

According to him, the protest was organised with the hope that Wike will help to address the lingering issue. (NAN)

Prof. Akeem Lasisi, Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun, Osun, said the institution admitted more female students for 2023/2024 academic session due to its passion for girl-child education.

Lasisi, said this during the second matriculation and investiture ceremony of the university’s pioneer Chancellor, Alhaji Ibrahim Al-Amin El-Kanemi, the Sheu of Dikwa, on Thursday in Ila-Orangun.

The vice-chancellor said that out of the 673 students that were admitted, 429 were female students, which according to him, constitutes 63.7 per cent.

Lasisi said that 2,069 candidates applied to the university, but only 673 were offered admission into 13 programmes of the university.

“I congratulate the matriculants and your parents for being the successful ones among the 2,069 applicants.

“I must, especially felicitate with the female students who constituted 63.7 per cent out of 673.

“This is the confirmation that our university has keyed, from onset, into the era of the advocacy for girl-child education and female leadership”, he said.

Lasisi urged the new students to be diligent in their studies to justify the labour of their parents.

The VC said that in the last year of his administration, he had worked closely with stakeholders of the university to pursue and realise the purpose of the university.

“My administration has seen to the construction of the faculty of basic sciences, health centre, science laboratory building, library and the university teaching hospital,” he said.

Al-Amin El-Kanemi, after his investiture, pledged to serve diligently and advocate for academic pursuits in the institution.

“Together, we will strive to create an environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a spirit of innovation”, he said.

The Chancellor urged the new students to go forth with courage, hope and knowledge to achieve greatness.

Earlier in his lecture, Prof. Adewale Akinsola (Emeritus), said the new trend of setting up specialised medical universities was conceivably a critical strategy to confront the serious and formidable challenges in the health care delivery.

Akinsola, spoke on the topic “Leveraging on the Emergence of Specialised Medical Universities to Bridge the Performance Gaps in Nigeria’s Healthcare Delivery”.

The don said that there was a frequent attrition of the personnel through the famous “JAPA syndrome”.

“In the last one or two years, over 2,000 health professionals, including doctors/nurses/physiotherapist and laboratory scientists have been affected.

“” We should harness the potentials of the specialised medical university to build a resilient, responsive and effective health community, with good health indices, contributing to the socio-economic well-being of the nation”, he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 673 admitted students later took matriculation oath. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
