Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vowed not to take his re-election for another four-year term for granted.
Ojelabi made the pledge in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos, titled “Thank You Lagos, I Will Serve You More”, in which he appreciated party members and residents for their support and confidence in his leadership.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ojelabi and others were returned unopposed through consensus arrangements at the APC State Congress held on Tuesday.
“I thank God Almighty for the grace of having to serve you, my dear Lagosians, for another term of four years. It is an honour and privilege that I cherish and will not take for granted.
“I am most grateful to the entire APC family for this wonderful opportunity which is the height of your confidence in my ability to move our party further to progress and prosperity.
“My greatest gratitude goes to my father and mentor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for always being there for me. He remains the pillar of our success and stability,” Ojelabi said.
The chairman also commended Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and members of the Governance Advisory Council for their steadfastness throughout the congress.
He praised party leaders and members across the state for upholding democratic values and ensuring credible processes during the exercise.
“Our leaders and members believe in the sanctity of our democracy and always give their best to make it work. That is why Lagosians continue to trust our party.
“You went the extra mile to ensure that only our best hands emerged winners in your constituencies. We must continue to handle every election with seriousness and integrity.
“Let me once again pledge my total commitment to strengthening our party and deepening our democracy. Let us remain united and shun bitterness and rivalry,” he added.
Ojelabi urged members to make necessary sacrifices to consolidate the party’s dominance and advance democratic ideals in the state.
He expressed optimism that unity and cooperation would sustain the party’s progress and prosperity in Lagos State. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
