NTA Sokoto marks 50th anniversary, holds reunion

The Nigerian Television Authority, Sokoto, will mark its 50th anniversary on Saturday with a reunion ceremony.

A statement issued on Friday by Dr Danladi Bako, a member of the Organising Committee for the ceremony, quoted veteran broadcaster, Mr Peter Igho, as paying tributes to the station’s workers.

Igho, the chairman of the Organising Committee and pioneer member of staff of the station, commended the current management and workers for upholding the high standards set at its inception.

The chairman, who was speaking during a pre-event interview, said the reunion ceremony would be well attended.

Igho also said the forum would provide a platform for re-invigorating the content delivery targets of Nigerian television and reassert NTA as the creative source of the broadcast industry.

The station was created as Northwest Television in September 1975 and was headed by broadcast veteran, Alhaji Adamu Augie, who was its first Chief Executive.

It was renowned for a tradition of excellence in its content programming covering huge award-winning dramas and documentaries at national and international festivals.

The station also contributed high level producers of great television series such as ” Cock crow at Dawn” and “Bala Miller Show.”

Both programmes were products of Igho.

The station had also produced veterans in the industry such as Sen. Ibrahim Gobir, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim and Alhaji Kere Ahmed.

Also included in the eminent list are Bako, a former Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission and Usman Magawata, a former Director General of NTA.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
