The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG), a think-tank, has commended the Federal Government’s newly introduced ward-based economic stimulus programme as a transformative step for grassroots development.

‎In a statement released Saturday in Abuja, TMSG Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo described the initiative as bold and innovative.

‎They said the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP) allows direct grassroots engagement without undermining intergovernmental responsibilities.

‎”Coming at a time that many Nigerians are concerned that improved federal allocations to states and local governments are not having the desired impact at the grassroots.”

‎”It is a thing of joy that the federal government is thinking out of the box in order to ensure that all parts of the country are carried along.”

‎”This, for us, is the simplest way of explaining what the federal government is set to do with the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme (RHWDP) which is targeted at ensuring direct engagement with the country’s 8,809 administrative wards across all 36 states.”

‎TMSG expressed confidence that the programme would boost economic activity at the grassroots and promote inclusive development.

‎”Judging from what President Tinubu said at his engagement with state governors on the issue, the federal government is keen on stimulating economic activities at the grassroots through a ward-based development strategy.”‎

‎The group highlighted the plan to support at least 1,000 people in smaller wards and 2,000 in larger ones, under a three-tier government collaboration.

‎”We note that the government plan will involve supporting economic activities for a minimum of 1,000 economically active individuals in smaller wards and 2,000 for larger ones under a collaborative arrangement between federal, state, and local governments.”

‎‎”We see it as a creative effort to generate employment, reduce poverty, enhance food security, and even enhance social protection in all the wards through a minimum of 8.8 million people.”

‎They acknowledged that while 8.8 million may seem small in a country of over 200 million, it is a significant starting point.

‎‎”While it may look like eight million is a small number in a country with a population of over 200 million.”

‎‎”We chose to see it as a strategy that will ensure direct federal presence that will have an indirect effect in addressing local needs.”

‎‎TMSG noted that the programme would be funded through increased revenue to the Federation Account and complementary state and federal initiatives.

‎‎”We are aware that the programme is to be funded with increased revenues accruing to the Federation Account, as well as other programmes that the federal government and states are undertaking.”

‎”Although a National Steering Committee comprising representatives of all six geopolitical zones is expected to oversee the implementation,”

‎”We are convinced that by the time the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme takes off, it will go a long way to drilling down development to Nigerians at the lowest levels of government.”‎

‎The TMSG maintains that the ward-based development programme will go a long way to empowering local communities and creating jobs directly and indirectly within local economies. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG), has said that the Federal Government’s new flood insurance policy, is a strategic measure that will reduce economic losses occasioned by flood disasters.

‎The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Federal Government had in June, unveiled a National Flood Insurance Policy, as part of proactive efforts to address Nigeria’s growing vulnerability to flood disasters.

‎In a statement jointly signed by the group’s Chairman, Mr Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Mr Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG said the move was apt and strategic.

‎The group described the insurance initiative, as a crucial lifeline for flood victims across the country.

‎”For us, this initiative could not have come at a better time than now that the country is still reeling from the devastating effect of the recent flash flood.

‎”The flood in Mokwa, Niger State, claimed at least 200 lives and destroyed property worth millions of naira.

‎”It is also noteworthy that the Mokwa flood became a case study by stakeholders, who recently converged in Abuja, to deliberate on a framework for the implementation of the policy,” he said.

‎TMSG, consequently, urged stakeholders, to fast-track the policy’s implementation and finalisation of its framework.

‎”We are elated that such an initiative is about to take root in a country where about five million individuals were affected by floods in 2024 alone, according to official statistics from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

‎”This, is because, flood insurance is a global practice in several countries of the world, even though it is relatively new in Africa.

‎”It is on record that a similar policy came into operation in the US in the 1960s, and has since then, been instrumental to alleviating the pains of flood victims.

‎”So by institutionalising it in Nigeria, the President Bola Tinubu’s administration, would be laying the ground work for a safety net for individuals and businesses, who may be affected by flooding to enable them recover quickly.” he said

‎The group, emphasised the urgency of implementing the policy to safeguard national interest.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) says President Bola Tinubu’s speech at the inauguration of Ghana’s new President, John Mahama, shows he is a Pan-Africanist and true champion of the black race.

Mr Emeka Nwankpa, Chairman of TMSG, in a statement on Monday, said that the speech was the best testament to the continent’s capacity to reinvent itself and build on its potential.

“Looking back at Tinubu’s speech as a special guest at the inauguration of Ghana’s newly elected president, it was not surprising that he used the platform to showcase Africa’s resilience against its myriad of challenges.

“This is a line he had constantly pushed at all his international engagements aside from promoting Nigeria’s interests.”

Nwankpa quoted Tinubu as saying that Ghana’s successful election addressed the question of whether Ghana and other African countries were capable of democratic and productive endeavours.

He said that Tinubu’s message could not have been more appropriate at a time of a resurgent military adventurism in some countries of West Africa.

“Anyone aware of Tinubu’s antecedents as a pro-democracy activist will not be surprised by his reference to the long years of unbroken democracy in Ghana and Nigeria.

“We see this as a fitting response to Africa’s critics on the strides the continent has made in development of democracy.”

The chairman said Tinubu’s speech was another bold statement of Africa’s readiness to live up to its historical capacity to govern its people and build its economy.

“Also interesting to TMSG is Tinubu’s position that African countries should not allow external interests to escalate normal differences and disagreements that could be amicably resolved by sincere brotherly dialogue.

“This is a statesman-like message that is needed at a time Africa is locked down by a renewed scramble by global players and superpowers contending for influence in the continent,” he said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) said President Bola Tinubu introduced 15 impactful initiatives in his first 18 months in office to show his readiness for the job.

Mr Emeka Nwankpa, Chairman of TMSG, and Mr Dapo Okubanjo, Secretary, in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja, said what the administration had done in its first few months showed that Tinubu came fully prepared with a plan.

“From our vantage position, we have been able to identify no fewer than 15 federal government initiatives introduced by the President Bola Tinubu administration in its first 18 months in office.

“Many of the initiatives are not by happenstance or ad hoc in nature and execution.

“They are mostly products of proper planning and were clearly spelt out in the President’s 80-page campaign document tagged ‘Renewed Hope 2023-Action plan for a better Nigeria,’ which contained multi-sectoral policy options.

“This is contrary to the position being canvassed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the public space,” the statement added.

TMSG said 18 months into President Tinubu’s four-year term in office, his administration had prioritised at least 15 initiatives, which were tied to national security, economy and education.

“One of the flagship initiatives of the Tinubu administration is the ground- breaking student loan scheme which was formally launched in July 2024 to improve access to higher education as well as reduce the financial burden of indigent students.

“We are pleased to note that barely three months after the Nigerian Education Loans Fund (NELFUND) portal was opened, 351,317 students registered with 258,943 applying for loans.

“At the last count, N84.2billion has been disbursed; N27.5billion went to the schools and N56.7 billion for student upkeep,” said the group.

It said NELFUND was on the verge of creating a job portal to link loan beneficiaries with employment opportunities to boost their capacity to pay back the loans two years after graduation.

“There is also the N100 billion Consumer Credit Scheme managed by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CreditCorp), which within five days of its launch disbursed N3.5 biliion to 10,942 beneficiaries through participating financial institutions.

“Other initiatives introduced by the Tinubu administration are the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, which is gradually being embraced as a cheaper, safer and cleaner alternative,” said TMSG.

It added that the Tinubu administration also introduced the micro and small business loan schemes to grow local businesses.

In line with this, the group said the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy spearheaded the 3 million Technical Talent (3MTT) targeted at building a new generation of Nigerian experts in the digital space.

“Also ongoing on the watch of this administration is the Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) project for which the federal government has recently committed 618 million dollars to strengthen Nigeria’s creative industry.

“And not to forget the infusion of skills into the curriculum of basic education from the next academic session.

“This is expected to expose pupils in the first nine years of schooling to an array of skills from which they can choose one and build capacity in while still focusing on their education,” the group stated.

According to TMSG, the President Tinubu administration has floated the National Youth Academy (NIYA), which has the goal of empowering and training seven million youths within the next two years and generating five million jobs within the next four years.

It added that the Tinubu government also introduced a N110 billion National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) scheme, a financial support initiative of the Ministry of Youth Development.

It explained that the scheme was designed to provide financial assistance through loans, grants, and equity investments, along with non-financial support like mentorship and business development services.

It said in addition to the above youth empowerment programmes, the Tinubu government also introduced an NDDC Internship Scheme for Niger Delta youths.

The group said all the initiatives were products of clear thinking, and that the initiatives had moved from the drawing board and were already being implemented with identifiable beneficiaries across the country. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
