DEPOWA School graduates first set, promises qualitative, affordable education

The Defence and Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), on Friday graduated the first set of DEPOWA Daycare, Nursery, Primary and Secondary School in Abuja.

The President of DEPOWA, Mrs Oghogho Musa, promised to ensure that the association continues to deliver qualitative and affordable education to wards of military personnel and other members of the society.

Musa said the graduation marked a significant milestone in the history of the school, DEPOWA and the barracks community.

While congratulating the graduating pupils and wards, she said they had conquered challenges, embraced growth and emerge as shining examples of what could  be achieved through hard work and perseverance.

“As you begin a new chapter in your lives, I urge you to reflect on the valuable lessons you have learned within this world and remember that education extends beyond your textbooks, as the development of your character will determine your sources in life.

“To my graduating students and pupils, you should know that character stands for compassion, so you must be compassionate.

“It also stands for honesty, accountability, adaptability and courage,” she said.

The DEPOWA president commended the staff and teachers for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the success of the pupils and students.

She said the teachers had had been the guides and mentors who had invested time and expertise in helping the students grow academically and personally.

“I make bold to say that as the 15th President of DEPOWA, I remain resolute to ensuring the provision of quality education in the DEPOWA, Daycare, Nursery, Primary and Secondary school.

“Because education is the most powerful weapon which could be used to change the world,” she added.

Commandant, DEPOWA Schools, Sqr Leader Roqibat Akerele-Alatishe, said the school started as a pilot project in 2001 to provide assistance to parents within the barrack, and had blossomed over the years to graduate the first set of pupils and students.

Akerele-Alatishe thanked the leaders of DEPOWA for their unwavering support towards the progress and success of the school.

She also commended the teachers for their commitment and dedication to ensuring that the school raised great minds and great leaders of tomorrow.

The commandant urged the graduating student to always remember the lessons they learnt and the values they had embraced by staying curious, kind, and never stop pursuing their dreams.

“As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, believe in your abilities and embrace the new opportunities because the world awaits your unique talents and contributions.

“As you start another phase of your life, I would like you to always remember to make discipline your watchword and priority, and the sky will be your starting point,” she said. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
