Muslim faithful in Asaba, the Delta Capital, on Sunday gathered at various Eid prayer grounds to give thanks to the Almighty Allah as they mark the end of the Ramadan fast.
Some of the faithful who were seen offering prayers at the Federal College of Education, Technical Central Mosque Asaba, offered gratitude to Allah for giving them strength to complete the Ramadan fast.
They, however, called on government at all levels to address the rising spate of hunger and insecurity to ensure citizens safety, peace and security in the country.
Speaking to newsmen, the Chief Imam of the Mosque, Alhaji Yinusa Adekola who led the Eid prayers, urged the Muslim faithful to continue to appreciate Allah every day, and be good to one another.
He said that the fasting and celebration had become necessary to teach people patience with others and God.
According to the Imam, the celebration teaches us to be very patient with ourselves, our fellow human beings, and with God. It is a means of really giving thanks to Almighty God for his guidance over mankind.
“We should love ourselves and one another, and be thankful to God, and be supportive of good governance in the country.”
He called for continued prayers for the leadership of the country to do what is right; provide the needed infrastructure, security and make lives better for the citizenry.
Adekola, who decried the gruesome killings of some persons who were traveling to the North to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr at Uromi in Edo, cautioned Nigerians against taking laws into their hands.
He called on government and relevant security agencies to beef up security in all parts of the country to avert a reoccurrence or reprisal attack.
Others who spoke, said they were happy to be alive to celebrate the 2025 Eid el Fitr in good health, while thanking God for a peaceful and successful celebration. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng).
