The Wife of the Chairman, Irepodun Local Government Area (LGA), Alhaja Sidikat Yakubu, has organised free tuberculosis test and treatment at Olomu of Omu-Aran Palace in Omu–Aran, Kwara.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme was part of the nationwide grassroots sensitisation health initiative championed by the Wife of the President, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu.
The exercise was attended by a large number of residents, who took advantage of the free screening exercise to ascertain their health status.
In a message of goodwill, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, commended the initiative, saying that early testing and medical intervention are essential in fighting diseases.
He appreciated the wife of the council boss “for bringing the programme to Omu-Aran to make healthcare more accessible to our people”.
The chairman, Mr Abdulazeez Yakubu, also lauded the leadership style of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Yakubu applauded the collaboration between the AbdulRazaq-led administration and wives of political leaders in the state.
He further said that the health and welfare of the people remained a top priority of his administration.
“This administration will continue to support health-based programmes to give all the residents access to essential medical services,” he said.
NAN reports that the event was graced by the wives of the chairmen of the other 15 LGAs, representatives of the State Government and Christian Association of Nigeria, and the Chief Imam of Omu-Aran, among others.
Some residents, who spoke on the exercise, expressed their gratitude to the wife of the council chairman for providing them access to good healthcare. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
