Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike on Thursday, led a convergence of political forces in Bwari Area Council for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and National Assembly candidates in the FCT.

Wike, during an interactive session with members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and political stakeholders in Bwari, formally presented a consolidated ticket under the banner of the ruling APC.

He urged the residents to vote Tinubu for president, Sen. Philip Aduda for Senate, FCT, Mr John Gabaya for AMAC-Bwari Federal Constituency and Mr Danladi Chiya for FCT South Federal Constituency.

Outlining a unified electoral strategy under the Rainbow Coalition, the minister warned community leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups and residents of the area against electing wrong people to represent them in 2027.

Wike described political parties as mere “vehicles” to deliver development and urged the territory’s electorate not to repeat what he termed the “political mistake of 2023.”

“Party is a vehicle that conveys you to where you are going. When you get there, you drop down from the vehicle and work for the interest of the people,” he said.

Questioning the performance of the current legislative representation in the territory, the minister asked the gathering whether they felt the impact of their incumbent representative.

“The mistake we made in 2023, will we make that mistake again? If it was an error, will we make that error again?” he asked.

Presenting Sen. Aduda to the gathering, Wike described him as “the man who understands when you are sleeping, the man who knows when you are crying, the man who knows when Gwagwalada people are in need.”

He highlighted the ongoing infrastructural interventions across the territory, including the ongoing rehabilitation of the strategic Bwari to Kubwa road scheduled for completion in December.

According to him, all achievements recorded by the FCT Administration stemmed directly from Tinubu’s unalloyed backing.

The interactive session witnessed cross-party endorsements from major political leaders, traditional rulers and grassroots coordinators across Bwari.

Chairman, Bwari Area Council, Mr Joshua Ishaku assured Wike that Bwari residents remain fully committed to his leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The excitement here today stems from the visible projects you are executing across the FCT. We can touch them, we can feel them, and even the blind know that there is a working government in the FCT brought about by Mr. President,” Joshua said.

Also, APC Chairman in FCT, Mr  Abdullahi Yamawo commended Wike for unifying political factions in the territory and bridging long-standing rivalries between APC and PDP members.

“We must thank you for the unity you have brought among the political class in the FCT. What you have done today is not just for individual candidates, but all politicians in the FCT are going to benefit,” Yamawo said.

Similarly, the PDP Chairman in FCT, Mohammed Dogara hailed the minister’s leadership and commitment to tangible developments over partisan rancour.

“We were sitting in our houses, and we heard ‘gbam’—we have a Civil Service Commission, Women Affairs Secretariat, and Youth Development Secretariat!

“The message as party loyalists is clear: go and tell Mr President it’s payback time for FCT, and we shall pay him back,” Dogara declared.

Representing the traditional institutions, the Etsu (King) Bwari, Ibrahim Yaro, praised the elevation and recognition accorded traditional rulers under the Tinubu administration.

“Abuja as a whole is just like the United States of America today. You have changed our Abuja and based on what you have been doing, traditional rules are going to support this administration come 2027,” the Etsu assured.

On her part, APC Women Leader in Bwari, Mrs Deborah Ayorinde assured Wike of intensive mobilisation drive among women and grassroots groups, noting that the community looks forward with high expectations to a smooth, unified victory for Tinubu and all aligned candidates across the territory. (NAN)
