The Nigerian Youth in Politics (NYP), has purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms for a philanthropist, Mr Igbiki Chiedozie, to contest the Aniocha South Constituency seat in the Delta State House of Assembly.

Presenting the forms in Abuja on Saturday, the NYP National Secretary, Mr Duke Alamboye, said the gesture was part of a nationwide initiative to boost youth representation in governance.

Alamboye disclosed that the group had mobilised nearly 700 young aspirants across the country to contest various elective positions.

He said the group’s mission was to move young Nigerians from the margins into mainstream politics.

“We are not talking about peripheral involvement; we want young people actively participating at all levels. We are open to both consensus and direct primaries as provided by law,” he said.

Also speaking, the group’s National Organising Secretary, Mr Virgin Onyenze, described Chiedozie as a credible candidate with a proven track record.

Onyenze said the organisation was committed to supporting capable youths who lack the financial resources to purchase nomination forms, and urged qualified young Nigerians to aspire to elective offices.

Responding, Chiedozie, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Delta Governor, pledged to prioritise youth empowerment, healthcare, agriculture, security, and education if elected.

“We will promote practical youth empowerment by supporting them in different ways and amplifying their voices.

“In the health sector, we will expand outreach programmes, while in agriculture, we will promote initiatives that enhance the visibility of our products,” he said.

He also pledged to support students through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registrations and tuition assistance.

Chiedozie expressed appreciation to Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for his commitment to youth development and acknowledged the mentorship of former Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, for his contributions to Delta North. (NAN)
