Dr Ahmed Audi, the Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has expressed concerns over the rising number of illegal crude oil refineries in Nigeria.

Audi said during the NSCDC quarterly summit on Thursday in Abuja that the situation demands for more action to take the refineries out of business.

“The emergence of these refineries is worrisome, but the corps is on top of the situation as we have been arresting suspects and destroying these adulterated crude oil refineries,” he said.

Audi said recently, the corps Special Intelligence Squad had arrested four suspects conveying 3,850 liters of adulterated Automative Gas oil in Obah Agwa Autonomous community of Imo.

On the Safe School Initiative, the CG said that the Corps in collaboration with sister agencies had averted multiple attempts by terrorists to attack schools in the country.

Audi said he expects sustained funding of the Safe School Initiative in 2024, adding that they have already developed a three-year work plan to protect schools in the country. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
