Edo female LP aspirant Loretta promises to revamp agriculture, empower women

Dr Loretta Ogboro-Okor, a Labour Party (LP) female aspirant for Edo governorship election, has promised to revamp agriculture and empower women, if given the mandate in the Sept.21 poll.
Ogboro-Okor said this when she spoke with newsmen, shortly after obtaining her Expression of Interest and Nomination Form at the LP National Secretariat in Abuja on Saturday.
“There is urgent need to change the model of Edo economy from consumption to production to create more opportunities for the teaming youths and women.
“I want to be the governor of Edo to change their sufferings, I will provide water, improve education ,carry out mechanised agriculture and revamp the economy .
“I have been privileged to connect with the grassroots and I know their sufferings and I want to change that.
“Being the governor of Edo will give me the opportunity to be the change I have always wanted to see. Through me a new Edo will be born, “she said.
Ogboro-Okor promised to work with people from all works of life and bridge the divide gap that existed to build the Edo that the indigent would be proud of.
She thanked the Votes Must Count International Initiative (VMCII),for supporting her to obtain the form.
Dr Barry Johnson, Country Director, VMCII,said that the group sponsored Ogboro-Okor as part of an uplifting agenda for women in Nigeria to have the opportunity to participate full hand in the electioneering process.
“This gesture honestly plays a very important slide towards building Nigerian women in politics so that our women can also increase in the velocity of female interest in building a Nigeria that is possible.
“We have seen great women like the Okonjo Iweala of world trade union, Aisha Mohammed of the united nations and Obi Ezekwesili rock world politics to its fullest and have performed as experts in their different sectors.
“It is on this note that we hereby go ahead today to present the labour party 2024 Edo state governorship expression of interest and nomination form to indeed another woman of service.
“Let’s give a woman the opportunity to become the Governor of Edo so we can witness a new format of governance that is designed to provide basic amenities for the people,”he said
Mr Obiora Ifoh, the LP National Publicity Secretary, reassured all of a level playing field for all aspirants vying for the Edo governorship election.
He promused to support Ogboro-Okor if she eventually become the party’s flag bearer for the Edo governorship election.
“Don’t be afraid of the men ,if you win the party will stand by you ,we will support you after the primary,”he said.
