The Forum of Nasarawa State House of Legislative Aides has appealed to the Speaker of the House, Dr Danladi Jatau, to increase their salary in order to align with economic realities, crucial for effective service delivery.
Mr Sabo Christopher, the Chairman of the forum, made the appeal when he led other members on a visit to the speaker in his office in Lafia.
Christopher said that the visit was to appreciate the speaker for his pragmatic and impactful leadership style in the house.
According to him, the current salary structure no longer aligns with the soaring cost of living and unique demands of their roles.
“We want to appeal for salary increment to reflect the current economic realities and for the establishment of a Sovereign Fund for Post-Tenure Support.
“We earnestly plead for a significant review and upward adjustment of our renumeration package.
“We passionately appeal for regular specialised workshops and training programmes for legislative aides,” he added.
The chairman of the forum assured the speaker and their principals of continued loyalty and support at all times.
The forum also passed a vote of confidence on the speaker for his pragmatic and impactful leadership style.
Responding, Jatau said the house will organise a workshop for all legislative aides on effective service delivery.
“I am overwhelmed by your visit. I will continue to do my best for you and other staff,” he said.
On the issue of salary increment, the speaker appealed to them to exercise patience until the house gets full financial autonomy.
The speaker urged them to be loyal to their principals and be prayerful at all times to excel in life. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
