Warri Wolves on Sunday defeated Enyimba International Football Club of Aba 2-1 in the match day nine encounter in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Aba.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defeat made it a back-to-back loss for the Aba team as Kun Kahlifat of Owerri also defeated them 1-0 in Owerri in the match day eight game.
In the match played inside the Enyimba International Stadium, Mohammed Hussain of Enyimba put the visitors ahead with an own goal in the 16th minute.
The stadium came back to life when Edidiong Ezekiel got an equaliser for the hosts in the 26th minute to ensure they entered the break with a goal apiece.
The two teams came back from the break more determined, but Warri Wolves’ Tejiri Emonena stole the show when he scored the winning goal from a corner kick.
With the result, Enyimba International FC moved down to ninth position with 13 points while Wolves with 14 points moved to the sixth position after nine matches.
Speaking after the match, Wolves’ Captain, Seth Maji, said that the team came prepared for the result and are happy they are going home with the three points.
Maji said the players came into the field to express themselves as instructed by the coach and that took off the pressure from them.
Meanwhile, Enyimba International FC boycotted the post-match interview as journalists waited in vain for the coach, Stanley Eguma and his captain. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
